Default The 2012 rookie class: Looking up or disappointing?

besides the obvious: Luck, Griffin, and to small extent Wilson and Richardson, how does everyone feel about the 2012 rookie class? Top heavy? full of studs? Or will this come down as one of the least exciting years in a while?

And what about the 2012 football cards--I know everything is supposedly sold out (especially topps), but are people really buying up multiple boxes/cases? (chrome not withstanding)

For this hobby it's rather underwhelming

But for actual football I think it's actually a very good class, just not for football cards

Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Richardson, and Wilson are about the only ones that seem to be doing much right now. Lot of season left so who knows though

I think it's weak as far as the hobby, but loaded as far as talent/potential.

I'm looking forward to getting Manti Te'o but other than that it's weak to me.

Lots of linemen and defensive players are why it's not a good class for the hobby but good for the real league

I got back into collecting sports cards after a 10 year hiatus (as sad as this is, I basically stopped collecting sports cards because I was interested in having sex with girls more then buying boxes ). But when I tore up my lower lumber region at L5S1 and S2 in the winter of '07, since I was horizontal for most of every day over a 9 month period afterward, I started looking into eBay after all these years later and bought some hobby boxes in 2008, in fact I kind of went bonkers with it, especially considering 10 years prior there was no way I could have afforded to buy a sports card box for $500.

I didn't even know how much smaller the companies had made their hobby box releases with this 4 pack, 1 pack, etc style packaging with the huge reduction in limited print runs for the rookie cards. And considering the concept of an on-card autograph back in the late 80's early 90's era was almost impossible odds with the inserted autograph cards that Upper Deck put out with their mass produced sets in '90 and so on, here now in 2008 I actually had a good shot of securing a nice autograph card.

I think the biggest reason I stayed in it this time around though was the shear dumb luck I had with how nice the collection of rookies in 2008 was and has proven to be in the years to come.

I'm relatively new here on this forum, but has there really been any other draft year that comes close to the performance of '08, because I can't think of one.

A while back there was a thread saying this class was stronger than 2011. Where are those people now?

Weeden is doing okay, too.

Its pretty weak but there are a few guys that are looking up
Ronnie Hillman- Getting some reps and Mcgahee is old and really blew it yesterday
Chris Givens- Big play guy, but his cards are so overproduced it would take a lot more to see any real value jump
Bernard Pierce and Cyrus Gray- Ray Rice and Jamaal Charles have a lot left in the tank, but they are getting some reps
And all the obvious one's who have been named before.

I really like the QB's in this class. I could see this year going up massively in value in about 3 years. I believe in Russell Wilson. Nick Foles and Brock Osweiler are X-factors.
Both Luck and Griffin seem to be stars, and Richardson looks good too. Doug Martin isn't bad either, and we've got to wait and see on Stephen Hill and Ryan Wilson. This is most definitely a potential class more than a ready-made one like last year's was.

I'm calling it now, next year's class look pretty awful so far. Marcus Lattimore looks to be very good, and then it's a mess. Manti Te'o might be the first defender to hold value in a while if he plays well though. (Steelers, PLEASE draft him!)

Maybe it's the underwhelming cards I've seen so far this year, but I just can't get motivated this this years rookies/products.

Think I'm going the singles route.......
