Obviously there's more football left to be played, and I know NIU is a mid-major BUT...
NIU is 8-1 on the season, with their only loss on opening day to Iowa by only 2 points I believe. Passing Lynch has just under 2,000 yards passing, 17 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. Rushing Lynch is 2nd in the nation in yards He has 1,185 yards rushing, 15 touchdowns, and is averaging almost 7 yards a carry. I understand it's very difficult for someone that plays for a small school to win Heisman, but do you think his name should at least be in the hat at this point? Before you ask, yes I did go to NIU, but that was a while ago. Still root for them but am not a crazy fan haha. |

There are guys putting up numbers around that playing against the big boys, so no. However, those are impressive numbers.

out of curiosity, who? Lynch has better overall numbers than Braxton Miller. Sure Miller plays better competition, but as I said, Lynch's numbers are better |

Klein for K State.
And I love NIU. Been on the campus a few times and absolutely love DeKalb.

Klein 157-246 63.8% 1956 yards 14 touchdowns 6 INT 110 Rushes 703 yds 6.5 average 10 touchdowns Lynch 129-211 61.1% 1710 yards 13 touchdowns 3 INT 149 rushes 1049 yards 7 average 13 touchdowns those are pretty equal! I think Klein is better, but taking away competition, I think I like Lynch's numbers better. not sure how Klein is doing today, but Lynch had like 250 yards passing, 4 touchdowns, 140 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns |

Like you said, Klein is playing against better competition. No one ever said Danny Woodhead should win the Heisman.

I remember Garrett Wolfe was Heisman hopeful for awhile at NIU. Still a great run of games by him!
The first 6 games, he averaged 224 yards a game. Absolutely insane. And then the Bears drafted him 2 rounds too early and he's no longer in the NFL haha |

Noooooooooo, he's a good LB, but he's not nearly as dominant as Suh was and Suh got 2nd.
Optimus Klein has probably got this on lockdown. This years crop of candidates is kinda weak and the powerhouse schools have a lot of good guys siphoning stats away from each other.

Indeed he did, I still think T'eo isn't nearly as dominant as Suh was in college.

I'd be impressed if he didn't do it in the MAC. Omar Jacobs, anyone?

Yeah, he was really good, but it also doesn't help that his team finished 8-3 that year. If NIU can beat Toledo next week, they have a good chance at sneaking into the top 25 i'd say. That would certainly get Lynch more attention

But, once again, they're in the MAC. Their biggest win right now is over Kansas...his stats are impressive, but the level of competition is not. The year Colt Brennan through for 5,500 yards and 58 touchdowns, he didn't finish in the top ten.

He's on pace to throw for 2,600 have 23 Touchdowns and only 4 INTs, and rush for 1600 yards and have 20 touchdowns. when is the last time a QB did that? Robinson in 2010 is comparable but he wasn't as efficient a passer |
