Whats a better grading co. Beckett or PSA

Ive always wondered what the better grading company was? anyone know? Is a psa 10 better than a beckett 10 or vise versa?

So If i have a nice card a little newer... graded a 10 by psa would you down grade it because it is psa instead of beckett? so in other words you dont think it would get a 10 by beckett?

A PSA 10 will likely be a BGS 9.5, Beckett grades a little tougher which is why a BGS 10 will sell for more than a PSA 10 normally.

then why do people prefer psa for older card arent older cards harder to grade? than newer cards?

PSA is more lenient on older cards, old Baseball and Football sets are really hard to get above BVG 6's & 7's, whereas PSA 8's & 9's are a lot more common on those older cards.

Also, PSA holders are quite thin compared to Beckett holders, most vintage sets contain tons of cards (several of the 1960's Topps baseball sets are north of 600 different cards).

okay... so I have a nice dual auto thats graded psa 10... do you suggest I send it in to Becket? or just leave it with its gem mint psa grade now?

Just leave it. A PSA 10 still carries value and it's not worth the extra money to see if it's a BGS 10 because it's probably not.

I'll echo Friar, just let it be.

BGS 10's are pretty hard to get, so chancing it for $42 isn't really worth it.

a BGS 10 is PRISTINE, while PSA has no PRISTINE grade. A PSA 10 (Gem mint) is equal to a BGS 9.5 (Gem Mint) and normally sell for about the same price (in my experience a PSA 10 sells lightly lower), but a BGS 10 sells for way more than a PSA 10...

It would depend on the auto grade. Unless the autos are going to get a 10, I would leave it be. I think a PSA 10 is more preferable to a BGS 9.5/9.
As mentioned below, a BGS 9.5 ROUGHLY is equivalent to a PSA10. They're both "Gem Mint". However, there are some instances where a PSA 10 will sell for more than a BGS 9.5 and so forth. Look up the population report for each and if one is significantly lower (i.e., 10 vs 100) then the lower pop tends to have a better sell value.

It depends on the card...those saying bgs is rougher on vintage aren't telling you that psa vintage sells for a premium over bgs/bcg. And PSA 10's on modern can get a premium over bgs 9.5's of the same card (so it isn't blanket that all modern should go to bgs).

If you have anything from the 80's (topps specifically), if you get a 9.5 people think it will be sheet cut and not give you the dough a psa 10 gets. Most modern gets about the same for standard issues unless auto on a psa card would not get a 10 at bgs.

Again it depends on the card. SOME cards get a premium at psa if they are a low population of a more standard/collectible card. If they are sticker autos that are tough to get all on the sticker and you think you could get a 10 auto, bgs would likely be worth a crossover attempt.
