I know people don't like these threads, but I sold a card on ebay. A 2012 topps chrome Luck relic patch out of a retail box, I accidentally, and I emphasize accidentally, listed it as a refractor in the title, but in the picture and description in states its a normal relic patch.
The buyer asks me if it is a refractor and tell him its not and I that I made a mistake in the listing. I offered to refund full purchasing price plus shipping costs to mail it back. I know it's my fault, but he thinks I trying to swindle people out of their money with false title listings and wants to inform ebay and give me my first neg. I have no intentions of taking people's money, especially on a $20-25 card. Just wondering if I should suck it up and take the negative or what? I've done all I could do to make the customer happy. 2012 Topps Chrome Andrew Luck Rookie Relic Refractor Patch RR1 | eBay

I've already sent it. And told him I would pay for his return shipping costs. A mistake on my part, just figured the person would be reasonable. Just sent him the advice stated above, let's see what happens......

My question is: Why did you let the listing run the whole week without just changing the title? Once you realized the mistake, you should've corrected the listing title and messaged the bidders letting them know your mistake, that way they'd have time to retract their bids or you could've cancelled their bids if they didn't want it after that.

EDIT:::I honestly never realized it until the buyer alerted me. He didn't alert me until after he purchased the card and after I shipped it out. If one good thing came from this, it alerted me to the other auctions I mistakenly titled to fix them and alert bidders/watchers.

I was under the impression that you could. I've never had to change a title after a bid was placed. Now I know.
But, what he could've done was told the bidder that the card was NOT a Refractor and that he was going to correct the title. Also, that in order to do so, he was going to have to cancel the bid and, if the bidder was still interested, that he'd have to re-bid on the item. Basically, cancel the bid and have the person bid on it again. You take the risk of not having the person bid again.
