Default NFL trades. Can they be cancelled?
Can the league stop a trade from happening like in the NBA? For instance when the Chris paul trade to the lakers got canceled.

Friend and I were talking about it and I thought the league would have to have some say in it going through.

Yes...all professional leagues have something in place where trades have to be approved.

Otherwise you could have some buddy-buddy owners trying to pull a fast one...
