NIU making the Orange bowl is a joke, but Wisconsin playing in the Rose Bowl isn't?

If trading jerseys for tattoos wasn't illegal, tOSU would be in the Rose Bowl and all would be right with the Rose Bowl.

It really is a disgrace that NIU is in a BCS bowl, I don't have a problem with him comparing them to any other school making it.

Wisconsin "won" the Big Ten. Why wouldn't they go to the Rose Bowl?

Also, I thought the Orange Bowl was reserved for the winner of the ACC and Big East. Last I checked, neither conference is sending a team to the Championship Game.

but it's ok that Wisconsin is in the Rose Bowl and Louisville in the Sugar Bowl?

Louisville lost two games, one to Syracuse who has a record of 7-5, and the other to Connecticut who has a record of 5-7?

Because NIU finished in the top 16 of the BCS standings ahead of Louisville and Wisconsin AND were a conference Champion. Big Ten has a deal with the Rose Bowl so since they were ranked higher than Louisville they got the nod.

I like NIU. They played by the same rules. Herbstreit is the idiot that wanted these rules in place in the first place now he has to live with them. He's just mad because Ohio state can't go bowling hahahaha

NIU will probably get killed, but they might not. Nobody really knows, and that's why they play. Mid-majors are 5-2 in BCS games, and one of those losses was when they pitted two mid-majors against each other. That's not to say NIU is Boise St. or TCU, but you never know. Either way, they're all just exhibition games in the end with the exception of the championship game.

LSU / Clemson in the Chick Fil-A bowl is laughable as well. Both teams have been in the top 15 all season.

This reminds me alot of the Boise/OU game. People were so mad Boise was even considered into a big game. Hopefully NIU kicks the crap out of FSU and shuts everyone up. These small schools still need some love too.

So many good teams in crap bowls this year. also tOSU wouldnt be undefeated w/o Meyer as others have said. and NIU isnt even undefeated. they lost to IOWA. how do they expect to win?

so i guess its safe to assume only a few people here really understand the BCS qualifiers ?

BIG EAST CHAMP and BIG TEN CHAMPS got BCS bids because of automatic tie ins

NIU is questionable but they did their part finishing in the top 16 and above a champion from another conference

A joke of an analyst because he's right? They lost to the worst team in the Big Ten and have no marquee wins. The only thing special about that team is Jordan Lynch. NIU belongs in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl.

And it's an absolute travesty in the BCS rules that teams like LSU aren't going when NIU is.

Why is it such a travesty? Because LSU is going to receive a somewhat smaller amount of money in their coffers? Only one BCS game actually matters. The rest only matter from a money standpoint, and I'm hardly going to cry over LSU getting a smaller pot than a smaller school like NIU. LSU isn't exactly going poor.
