Anybody going to buy a few cases/boxes of 2012 SP Authentic Football?

I know there is no Luck Auto's in this set, but I really like SPA especially their RPA's. Think I will order a few boxes first.

In a hobby where maybe 3-5 rookies in a given year can make you turn a profit from a box, missing one of the biggest ones is crushing. Combine that with the lack of NFL licensning and this is the year SPA starts to die.

I don't know, last year I busted 2 cases and crushed it. I hit every top RPA, JJ Watt Future Watch auto 1/1 and a Brandon Saine 1/1 auto Rc. Not, to mentioned Locker, Dalton, Gabbert , Newton Spx auto jersey Rcs from the bonus packs. So this year it will be lacking the bonus packs and Andrew Luck...... It's a tough call. But at $100/ box it's not too bad. Ill prolly do a case.

This year still has the bonus packs. Instead of being SPX bonus packs there are 4 SP Threads bonus packs per case. People still pay a ton for SP Authentic cards and they always look great so I plan on opening a few.

He will,prolly have some sort of redemption like Spx and exquisite. But it's not the same as a live card of the top Rc. Especially when the product is ALL about the rpas.

For NCAA licensed cards I thought the auto patches looked great in 2011, as well as the SPx/SP Rookie Threads auto/relic inserts.

The box value overall is definitely lacking I agree there.

I remember pulling an SPx Andy Dalton auto jersey #/30 and I STILL barely made my money back.

My biggest complaint about SPA is that the base cards are soooo worthless. I mean, they're not even worth the paper their printed on. Even the numbered rookies suck. So, basically you end up pawing though each pack until you get to the hits.

I know most sets are this way but at least with most sets there's at least a cool factor of inserts & numbered base parallels.

Yeah, but you can still sell sets and recoup,some cash.

At least there's rookies mixed in, whereas the majority of base cards (and even inserts for that matter) out of Panini products are literally worthless.

Plus if you have larger lots of rookies (Which casebreakers will) those will sell if you're not doing the sets.

A quick check of ebay reveals that a 2011 base set can be had for $12.99 OBO. You call that recouping some cash? Topps Flagship base sets sell for $30+ and you get 5 in a case of jumbo boxes.
