While it would be great for him to break the record, the Vikings are not going to "just feed him the ball" so he can get it. If they were going to do that, they would have gotten him an extra 5-7 carries at the end of the game today. He will get his normal 20-25 carries. If it happens, it happens.

Umm, I think he could have rewrote the records books if he didn't suddenly retire while still in his prime.

Haha true. I mean, what he did after that injury is amazing. Probably the best running back in the last 20 years.

Yes. Jim Brown, AP, Sanders, Payton, Emmitt. Either way, Peterson is top 10 even if not 5. The point is your comment was asinine and your grammar is terrible. I mean what does peterson need to do to prove to you he is not "overrated"? break his other ACL and break another record?

Top 10, Of Course and Top 5 No way? So there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE Between top 5 and top 10 ? No. Peterson is top 5 /Thread.

Barry Sanders is the greatest RB of all time, in my opinion. Most others believe so as well. He retired at his peak.

However, AP has put together the GREATEST eight games in a row in NFL history. Averaging 164 YPG. He will retire in the top 5.

Woah! His career was never in jeopardy.

A torn ACL and MCL is pretty routine to repair. My biggest concern when he was hurt was cartilage damage (which is much harder on the knee joint in the long run).

Now AP's recovery speed is something that is truly awe inspiring.

Which was my point. His injury could have been career ending. Not specifically caused by the acl tear but just th injury in general. Either way he is a top 5 RB

Over past eight games, Adrian Peterson has rushed for 1,313 yards, the most over any eight-game span in a single season in NFL history

After he went for 210 at Lambeau, he can do something similar at home against them. The Houston game will be the pivotal one.

With that being said, if he can play with close to full health until his lower-mid 30s, does he have a chance to be the greatest ever? If he breaks the record this year I think it's a legit argument that could eventually be made if the rest of his career is filled with good health. I'm not talking about numbers like Emmitt. I'm talking the most dynamic, electrifying playmaker to ever play the position.
Whoa pump the breaks there buddy. Most electrifying playmaker EVER! That is crazy talk. He is an amazing running back but there is a whole list of guys above him and that will never change no matter what stats he ends up with. If you actually watched Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Bo Jackson......play you would not make that statement. I would compare AP to Tony Dorsett or a similar back. Very powerful with some good moves as well but not the most dynamic or electrifying ever by any means.

While all the RB you mention were great in their own way, none of them has done what Peterson is doing. Peterson has the speed, the power and the moves to be the GOAT when all is said and done. Does he have the best moves? No. That was Barry. Does he have the best power? No. That was Brown. Does he have the longevity? We'll see. He is a morph of them all.

I will always give the edge to Sanders or Peterson just due to the fact that they were/are pretty much the entire offense. Stop them and you win.

You have to be trollin'.

Without AP, the Vikings would have near ZERO offensive production right now. There's virtually ZERO passing game and yet they are finding ways to win games. Take Adrian off this squad and they're probably a 3-4 win team.

It's okay, he's just mad that what Adrian Peterson can gain in one season in rushing yards, might take his idol about 6 seasons!

I don't think he will break the record, but I definitely hope he does. He's my favorite player of all-time.
