Default Post Your Coolest/Favorite 1990's inserts

I'm partial towards numbered inserts but feel free to post any! Feel free to give us a story about the card/cards or details about it.

This is one of those pain in the butt to find 90's insert sets. The best part? I found it at a local show! A dealer grabbed a tub from the back looking for a Marino and I saw it a mile away! He said he had it on hold for someone, but if my offer beat his, it was mine. I offered $40 and walked away with the card. An absolute steal!!! STUNNING in person. Definitely my favorite insert set of all-time!
Its the Playmaker's Theatre down in the lower right corner. Numbered /100.

Since we're on the subject of Dan Marino, I'll post my favorite 90s insert. Back in 1997, I pulled a few of the more expensive 1997 Score Artists Proof inserts which were inserted at a rate of 1 per 36 packs. I loved the way the looked and thought it would be incredible to try and get the whole set since there are 330 cards and only one came per box. Here we are about 15 years later and I'm 2/3 of the way there.

Here are some of my favorites. I'm always a sucker for anything shiny or holographic from the 90s.

1998 Score Showcase 1/1, 1999 Topps Gold Label Red 1/1, and 1999 Bowman Interstate Refractor /100. I especially like this particular BC Interstate becuase of the Statue of Liberty backdrop and how great it looks with the refractor effect.

1997 Pacific Revolution Blue Platinum, 1995 Pinnacle Summit Ground Zero, 1997 Flair Showcase Legacy /100

1999 Fleer Ultra Caught in the Draft, 1997 Pinnacle Epix, 1995 Topps Florida Hot Bed

I know this is a football thread..but I thought this would bring back some memories from the 90's. I have an absolute TON of 90's inserts..samples...prototypes etc..most of which are boxed and plastic sealed for a rainy day for my kids..100's of jordans etc, but here's a few.

Anyone remember the Proset #669 Jeff George hype..what a joke that turned into. Jordan's attempt at baseball. The original topps gold. Stadium Club member only...wtf was up with that anyhow? Still have my stadium, credit card etc? The monumental amount of proset errors like my double sided Barry Sanders error....oh the days. When there wasn't a difference between hobby and retail. Inserts were actually worth 2 craps..instead of putting 109820382 inserts into a box. Can we go back?

Still one of my favorite cards were the Donruss Elite series..I saved my paper route money for almost a year (talk about slave labor of the 90's )and with a little help on my birthday was finally able to get my Frank Thomas Elite card

Those elite series cards were so beautiful and they were tough pulls. I love those cards.

Yeah they were...10,000 each and it was a miracle if you actually hit one. The Thomas card is 388/10,000 and the only one I could come across as I was a kid. Even when my dad and I had our own card shop..held bi-monthly card shows etc...they were just not out there. So when the card shop down the street got a hold of one...I pleaded with the lady to hold it for me until I could save enough money and she was kind enough to do so. Which reminds me...I need to go through the cards in the garage again..see what I've missed going back through everything. Even some of the cards that I scanned have dropped a few $ in price just over the last 6 months....trying to widdle it down to a good stack of cards to send out to get graded. None of my cards are graded as in the early 90's the card was either good or bad...not 18 different metrics of good.

Don't have the card scanned by itself (but I have it along with 2500+ other Young cards) so ignore this is a show badge version....but 1995 Pacific Crown Cramers Choice. I remember paying maybe $100 for the Salaam version.....doh!

Anyone remember some packs had an offer for a special card case that fit these cards....would love to find 3-4 of those cases.

1998 Stadium Club Leading Legends, cell like cards are always cool. (I have around 200 SY PSA 10s)

1996 UD Game Jersey. First GU jersey set.

Okay, not a card...but 90s era. They made a lot of different versions of this game, I remember one was an aikman, and some were other sports or non-sports.

Last I checked, a couple years ago, the batteries were still good!
