I just won this card on Ebay:
2012 Topps Platinum Andrew Luck Auto Patch Gold Refractor RC 5 150 BGS 9 10 | eBay

Was doing a search for others from the set and this came up:
2012 Topps Platinum Andrew Luck Gold Very RARE Jumbo Patch Jersey RC 5 | eBay

These are the same right? As far as I know, they don't have more than one pose or any diffrent variations that would both be /5 right??

Duh....just read the listings...sorry. Looks like you got the refractor for 400$ cheaper than the BIN price of the gold only. Great card

I would say the second one is a fake

judging by feedback scores, seems like the second one is most definitely a fake. Probably stole the pic before it was graded from the guy in a photobucket account or something

Just something to look at...its not pretty but I blew up the one picture and traced certain features on the cards....see how they exactly match? NO way in hell two unique cards would have an identically placed identical auto along with the relic.

There's a Patch Auto Ref /5 and a Patch Auto Gold Ref /5, but as noted above the cards are seemingly identical.

If you look at his other auctions, then look the card up under completed listings you'll find the same cards, same picture but he didn't buy them with that account. Some has sold multiple times but keep coming back up for sale.

I know lol but I think for the price it seems like a good deal. My high bid was close to $800. I just sold my Griffin /25 9.5 from the same set for $850 last night so after fees its essentially trading my Griffin /25 for the Luck /5 and around $60.

Here is the simple answer to end the thread:

The second seller is a scammer. There are several of these that pop up from time to time (more often then you'd believe). What they do is rack up some positive feedback - maybe 15-50 positives for low-end stuff then in one week they list a ton of really high-end stuff and they just steal pictures from other listings. They always get a ton of suckers who don't do research and they make out with thousands and then they're gone. They are like mini-Haikus. I always send them messages telling them I'm turning them in to ebay but alas they always get away with it.

This guy is doing the EXACT SAME THING...except he actually took a BGS 9.5 and cropped the photo:

PS - the EASIEST way to tell if an auction like this is fake is to look at the seller's other listings. 99% of the time the background in the photos, type of photo, etc. are different in each listing. Legit sellers always use the same scanner, camera, etc. Also, if the picture is super cropped that's a tell-tale as well.

Agreed - which is why his Luck Gold /10 isn't selling for $1,400. But he does at least have some positive feedback so people aren't completely scared away like they would be with a 0 feedback seller.
