Default My patience with Panini, and quite frankly the hobby is running low

Opening boxes for my wife and I is something of a luxury. We aren't rich by any means with me still being in college. So when we do get to open wax, it's about the experience more than the hits, sharing something with each other.

I've taken a gigantic step back from this hobby selling almost all my cards away a few months ago. With Basketball season in full swing, we've been focusing on her PC which is Spurs stuff.

Well with the new Basketball product out, I wanted to do something nice for her and get her a box of Prizm. We were both excited and we tore in to the box only to find almost every card has been bent and/or damaged.

The videos can be found here:

Panini Prism box fail part 1 - YouTube

Panini Prism box fail part 2 - YouTube

I've been in contact with Panini through Twitter and it's been less than stellar. @Paniniamerica put me in contact with @PaniniCSM who is telling me to mail in all the damaged cards to replace 1 for 1.

Something about that has ticked me off. Not only is it their fault they shipped me faulty product, they want me to spend more money to send them their mistake.

This while not entirely huge, may be the straw that breaks the camels back. Just tired of being tired.

Its gonna happen its not all on Panini . Some has to do with shipping etc. But if they are willing to replace the cards then i don't see an issue. Ya you do have to pay for shipping to them but they are paying for return. My main issue is redemptions but that is here to stay. Only thing i wish would change is how they exhange those.

It's not all on Panini? I paid them for a product. Said product was damaged badly. That is 100 percent on them.

No I don't. I won't and I wouldn't have. They are paying for the shipping.

It's about the experience, not about the hits or the money. That has been taken away by Panini.

But I appreciate the response.

that damage is almost guaranteed to have occured after panini packed it. all that damage on the same corner likely means it was dropped or crushed at some point along it's journey to you

You may need a new hobby, looks like its only going to get worse.

When panini replaces the damage card they will also give you an extra card for having to pay for shipping.

You can almost guarantee anything. But what you can't do is 100 % guarantee it. All I know I paid for a product, product was damaged. I want a new box and that will be the only solution I see fit.

They are already paying for shipping. We are still talking through Twitter/email as I type this.

Every time I have sent in a replacement, redemption, or the info for missing hits, I pay shipping. I'm pretty sure 99% of people on this forum do also.

Well they agreed to pay shipping for me. So I'm off to a good start.

i can 100% guarantee that if i bought said box and after the first few packs that every card was damaged in the same exact spot that i would have stopped opening them to figure out the proper course of action

So you wouldn't be satisfied if they replaced every card and sent back the same cards you sent them?

Yeah I would be satisfied. Just a bad taste in my mouth from the experience.

When you aren't in the hobby to make money, and want to enjoy the expereince of being in the hobby, this is a crappy situation.

It is, I just don't think you should get a new box.

They should replace all your cards in good condition

Well I guess we have differing opinions on the matter.

If you don't enjoy collecting anymore maybe it's time you leave or take a break. A hobby is supposed to be fun not tiring.

It's just a slippery slope when companies start giving out brand-new boxes to people who had damaged cards in their box.

Yours is on video but not everyone had a camera handy at that time, so what's stopping me from opening a box and getting bad cards and damaging them like that to get a new box?

I think replacing your cards is the way to go in these situations

The card industry has changed and so has the collectors. I can guarantee that when 1986 fleer basketball hit the shelves, nobody was complaining about chipping, bent cards, of centered cards ect... this industry has gotten way more expensive to run and way more expensive to buy. I want the old days back

I would be happy with the replacement of all of the damaged cards, especially if they are footing the bill for the shipping. Then again, I have never really felt like I was entitled to anything.

So you would be fine with spending $110 bucks and having 90 percent of the cards damaged?

So let me get this straight.

You bought a box, with 100 cards in it. All 100 cards are damaged. Panini is offering to replace them with the same cards that were damaged, and pay for the shipping of them, which basically means it would have been like you opened the box with those cards undamaged, and this isn't enough for you?

I don't get how you think you are entitled to more, they are replacing the damaged cards with undamaged ones.

I never said I was entitled to more. This is the agreed upon deal Panini and I have agreed to. I should of made that more clear. But they pay for shipping, and replace the damaged cards.
