Default Another Boyd Thread...

Sorry for another one but this really annoyed me since this is a card I would have been interested in. Check out the guy who has the highest bid right now...

edit: $1200..... Right

436 total bids
432 items bid on
100% with Boyd

Yea...............Okay................

And if he didn't swear he was done coming on here I'm sure he'd say how it's just one of his many loyal buyers.

I'm sorry, but it's obvious, anyone buying these types of cards isn't bidding on 400+ different cards but only from one seller, just ridiculous that he thinks we're that dumb to believe it.

Also really pathetic that ebay doesn't care about this, I mean I get why they don't care, they get more money from him and it drives up the values of these cards for when other people sell it so they're still getting more money that way too. But it shows just a complete lack of respect for it's customers by allowing this to continue, pathetic

Ebay is awful, I called twice about this seller and still nothing has been done. They tried telling me their isn't enough evidence and I literally showed them more than enough to make it blatantly obvious.

eBay My World - atamayo21

check out that guy and look at this guys feedback

eBay My World - tomjms

the second one is an obvious schilling account. I mean it's 100% bid activity ranging from sports cards to jewelry and coins haha.

And ebay doesn't even care that's the same buyer has bought the same card off the same seller multiple times and it still gets relisted.

Ebay is such a joke

At this point, people just need to do their own research, take their own precautions and exercise their own judgments with Boyd. His reputation (or lack thereof) is certainly known, and anyone involved in the hobby should know how to approach eBay issues like this.

That said, I have no sympathy for people who get shilled bidding on his items.

Dear God, that's freaking terrible. 432 bids all with one seller. Are you kidding me? He's not even trying to hide the fact that he's clearly up to something fishy. Damn shame Ebay doesn't step in.

I should pluck a hair off of my head and tape it to a Peyton Manning card, put it up on Ebay with a .99 starting price, describe it as having a BV of $1,000,000, call it a 1/1 bigboyd special. It would match all of his criteria. Fake piece of material, totally subjective book value. I'll create a separate account and call it "Not88Horsepower" and just let the bidding fly!

Oh, we KNOW Ebay doesn't care. It's just a damn shame they don't have any integrity on the matter.

Integrity seems to fly out the window in this hobby when there is money at stake.

Can't ebay get in trouble for letting him sell fake patches and everything?

Not everyone comes on card forums. When a seller has 185000+ positive feedback most would assume the person is a quality seller. It never hurts to keep spreading the word so that more people stumble upon his practices.

In principle, I agree. But it's not even just about coming on card forums. Anyone who has been on eBay long enough should know what to look for behind the numbers and ratings. This is not to excuse Boyd's practices, it is simply to say buyers should be more proactive.

I disagree. I don't think we have enough of these threads. New unsuspecting collectors are born every day. The message needs to be clear and constant.

Bought 30 cards from him two weeks ago and received all of them in two separate orders.

Probably bought 1000 auctions from him over the years. Received every last card. I was disappointed in a couple of cards in one order. I returned for full refund.

Pretty happy camper here.

I totally used to own this card! I sold it to a really solid guy locally in chicago before the season started, and I know he was still holding it as of about a month ago or so. I always wonder what the process is of a card ending up in bigboyd's hands

Main thing to take away from this is to just not buy anything from bigboyd.

Useless.

Boyd needs to post a screenshot if he actually wants to prove himself.

Again, I am neither excusing Boyd's practices nor undercutting the purpose of word of mouth and exposure. No matter if you're new or old, there is always something you can do to be proactive on your own. It is ultimately the individual's responsibility to inform himself and make his own decision.
