How much do you think his knee injury will affect his card value in the near future?
I think his value would drop overall around 25%, but can surely rise as he comes back and performs well.

Hard to see his cards ever being worth as much as they were a week or two ago. By the time he comes back, collector's will have moved on to "the next big thing" and many will be scared away from paying too much given the very real possibility that his career doesn't last very long without changes to his playing style which, if made, could make him less effective.

I hope they fall to reasonable levels. As a heisman winner he will always have a few collectors, and a Heisman auto collector I'd like to pick up a few more of his higher end stuff with a price fall (regardless, I'd rather the guy be healthy).

For pretty much any QB, their long-term hobby value is a function of how many Super Bowls they win.
You look at all the QB's who have held value over the long term (Starr, Unitas, Namath, Staubach, Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman, Marino, Elway, Farvre, P.Manning, and Brady), and all except Marino have won at least one Super Bowl. Dan Fouts is probably the greatest QB who never played in a Super Bowl, and his cards are pretty much commons. Over the short term, RGIII's values won't move much until he is back playing again. Over the long term, he has to win a Super Bowl or else he'll be forgotten the day he retires. |
