I think they are #@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@. I am not going to waste money on a "1/1" that is a 1/1 merely because the back is blank. That is moronic in my book.

If they produced only 1, then yes, it is a 1/1. (They are also embossed besides being blank back). Cheesy 1/1's, but one of a kind none-the-less. In price, I compare them to printing plates. So, it doesn't necessary hold much value over cost (they start at $9.99 plus shipping, so $13.49) and some you could argue are worth less.
I also can not conclude I have an opinion over a company that has a 60 year history, over what they can or should produce. It would be like me telling Paramount what a movie is and telling them what they can't make. |

Beckett doesn't list them, I personally think they are kinda lame...but I try to get them for my collection.
Topps could do a lot better with them. Matching holograms on the COAs and some better printed COA's that are not just generic hand written crappy looking junk would make them a lot nicer. Not long ago they started stamping most of them with some sort of round seal...you cant really see it in the auctions very well unless you know what you are looking for. I don't even care for that either. The only ones I think are kinda cool, are the ones for sets that all the cards are numbered on the front...like the triple threads have even the base cards numbered to /999 on the front...even the superfractors or 1/1's or whatever in these sets have 1/1 stamped on the front...so these toppsvault blank backs are the only cards from those sets that DON'T have any sort of numbering stamped on the fronts....makes them a little different in that respect.

Some can go high, and you can also find them in discount in Topps store at times. The value of them is close to printing plates from what I have seen (and I own maybe 20...see my Gonzo thread for 10 or more), which is more what I was noting. It is not uncommon for some printing plates to sell under $9.99 (plus shipping) also, and not uncommon for them to go kind of crazy high....assuming that is what you were getting at. Personally, I think they're just stupid. Topps printing cards with no back and listing them as 1/1s for a little extra revenue.

I collect 1/1s and i believe these to be a complete JOKE. Thats just my opinion. I will add that i dont believe in printing plates either. I dont consider them 1/1s. I consider them 1/4 due to the on difference is the colors.

I like them because it gives everyone a fair crack at it, cant be pulled in packs only won at auction. They could do a better job but I do like that it has a 1/1 sicker on it with authenticity.
