That sucks.

When I was a freshman in High School, our varsity team played (and won) the state championship football game in the Silverdome.

Good times!

Maybe this will inspire Pontiac to tear down this eyesore.

Crazy the winds tore it up like that. They are supposed to be putting a hard top on it anyways.

Would be nice if they actually used the stadium for more than a concert or soccer game here and there.

Nope, they are putting a new roof on it

Pontiac Silverdome Damaged By Strong Winds CBS Detroit

The Silverdome was sold at auction in 2009 for $583,000. The 80,300-seat stadium was completed in 1975 at a cost of $55 million

But wow, talk about declining property values

Weather ripping apart Silverdome roof -- but it's OK | Detroit Lions | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Quote:
Wind and snow are shredding the roof at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, but it’s no cause for concern.

The roof was deflated Jan. 3 and eventually will be replaced. Stadium events coordinator Alex Loewy says the extreme weather actually is helping to bring the roof down.

He says the inflatable roof will be replaced with a hard roof by late summer. The building has been winterized, and no events have been scheduled until later this year.

The 80,000-seat stadium opened in 1975 and was the home of the Detroit Lions until 2002. The Silverdome was sold for $583,000 in 2009.

Where at in NorCal? I'm about 1.5hrs northward of Sacramento.

Man, for $583,000 you could scrap the building and turn a profit! Someone got one HELL of a deal.
