2012 Limited Value

Can anyone explain to me why there isn't much value in Limited this year? I mean Luck and Griffins /199 are both going for under $200...

I just don't understand the drastic drop in prices

zonacats8 01-22-2013 10:11 PM

The season is over

drumstyx89 01-22-2013 10:28 PM

Yeah but the Newton's last year were still going for well over $200 all summer

theautographkid 01-22-2013 10:29 PM

I'm not sure about this either. Personally, I really like this product. Maybe just because I pulled some good things, but I like it

drumstyx89 01-22-2013 10:34 PM

I wish I had a couple grand laying around cause I'd just stock up on Griffins and Lucks! It's crazy that they are selling that low. People are barely getting twice their box price for the 2 best players!

BlueReloaded 01-22-2013 10:36 PM

I paid $100 for the Wilson I have in the other thread.

mindbinge 01-22-2013 10:40 PM

Griffins stuff has dropped a LOT since he got hurt. ebay stuff is down to under $150 for the more common stuff now.

mdh 01-22-2013 10:44 PM

I wish Richardson would go for more considering they are only /98 (and I have one)

Imo too much product de-values the rookies.

This and Limited never really holds it's value really well in the RC dept. It's not one of the cornerstone RC cards to have like Chrome, Contenders, NT, SP,or Exquisite. They may look nice, but this is not the product to invest in RC wise. IMHO it's more appealing for the veteran autos and "relics" that hold value much more in this set, making it a product to buy at least 6 months after release when the price becomes more realistic.

too many impulse buyers in the market and too many people are just looking to pick up the potential hot players as season rolls along and then when the teams are out, they give up. As they figure the luster is gone which it is, but really only because too many of them are backing off.

Im looking to pick up Alfred morris autos, russel wilson and possible RG3 over this downtime hopefully cheaper and ramp up for next season. I mean Morris was hot for a few weeks 80 on avg per auto no matter how high it was numbered and then BOOM!!! (as Madden would say) cant sell them for more than 30ish hardly.

It is killing the resale business. It is actually good for the hobby of "collecting".

I agree. The "hobby" has become people busting boxes and cases just to hit the high value card and resell it, along with the other cards, immediately. There's nothing wrong with selling, but busting boxes just to sell is not what it's all about for most of us.

Memorabilia cards don't have value anymore, because the market was flooded with thousands upon thousands of relics of each rookie every year. The same thing is happening with autos now.

Using only the cards with stated print runs shows that there are over 13,000 cards at this point that Andrew Luck autographed. Adding in the others I would say there are probably 1000+ more, and there are still over a dozen products to be released.

too many good rookies also devalue the cards... last year there is only one clear top rookie and that is cam... this year, you have 3... so if I am a "prospector" and only have the same amount to spend each year...I can blow my entire stash on Newton last year and overpay, but not this year as I have to split over 3 players...

Players like Alfred Morris, Martin and Richardson are all undervalue as well... if they had a season like they did as a RC without any other big names... their cards would be 2x to 3x more...

yeah, this along with a new Panini product every week.

Clarka3 01-23-2013 02:20 PM

i don't think the product is worth the MAPP price point.

dvlosky 01-23-2013 02:22 PM

football card prices in general have been decreasing
