Packsearching, shill bidding and fake patches are wrong. Listing a jersey number card as a 1/1 is smart and its not misleading, if you read the listing it says exactly what the card is serial #ed 18/50, a jersey number card that is an ebay 1/1, no buyer would be confused based on that wording.
By your logic every single card that is serial numbered - every one in the world - can be listed as a 1 of 1 on eBay.

It's not smart - it's obnoxious.

You should just put "jersey number" in the title - you know since that's what it actually is.

or JSY# which is 1 more character than 1/1

That way when the rest of us want to find just real 1/1's we can search for '1/1 -eBay'. The jersey # = 1/1 people still get to see your card, and the normal people get to move on and not see it.
THIS!!!!!! It's the only way it will work.

Putting "jersey number" in the title isn't going to happen. Nobody searches it and it takes 15 characters (didn't actually count them so I'm probably wrong).

I search for nick toon 1/1 all the time, guess what I get.......... 20+ listings with the number 1 somewhere in the title and 2 "jersey number 1/1's", people keyword spamming isn't what clogs my search.......

....maybe we should eliminate numbers from listings all together?

Yeah sounds dumb doesn't it, about as dumb as you guys bitching that "1/1 jersey numbers" clog your searches.
It's become a part of the hobby (at least when using Ebay), deal with it.

BTW I don't do the jersey # 1/1, I will add rare and SP and SSP when I can though, but those are just a matter of opinion as well.

And yes every serial numbered card is a 1 of a kind, and could be listed as 1/1 and not be called keyword spamming. He doesn't list it as "stamped 1/1" or "numbered 1/1" so technically hes not lying. That's why ebay doesn't care, not because they make more, that's just an added bonus.

So if he says "not MICHAEL JORDAN ROOKIE" in all of his titles, is that okay? He wouldn't be lying and more people are probably searching for that.

No! Basically, you will be doing like "Kobe auto not Michael Jordan rookie". That is also part of the definition of Keyword spamming:
"Comparisons between products aren't allowed. For example, you can't say things like "shirt not pants" or "video not Nano.""

The OP keeps saying he isn't doing anything wrong. I am just saying whatever he is doing fits eBay's defintiion of Keyword Spamming and is not allowed.

I know, bro. I agree with you. My point was aimed at matt roberson's argument that's it's not lying and it helps with searches.

If you have to use any other terms outside of 1/1 to describe a 1/1, it's not a 1/1.

I love the OPs reasoning..."well everyone else is doing it! "

I'm not saying to do it, or that I do it or condone it.... I am just justifying why ebay can't/won't do anything about it, but will when it comes to "not micheal jordan rc" or "no auto".

don't shoot the messenger, jeez.

You're calling it something it's not = key word spamming

I search eBay all the time for "1/1" cards stamped "1/1" and get crap jersey number listings. Hence key word spamming so people can find yor crap auctions...
