Default My 2009 Mayo Kurt Warner 1/1 printing plate is going to...well...Kurt Warner

I got an email when I ended the Warner auction early due to Topps saying they would replace it. The buyer was bummed as he is a friend of Kurt Warner and was buying it for Kurt. I thought yeah right until he offered me $40.00 for it , stating he did not care about the marks on the frame of the card. He just wanted to give it to Kurt, because it was a cool card.

So I get another email asking me to ship it out so he can have it to give to Kurt on Friday morning. I emailed him tonight to let him know he will have it Thursday and he said he will get a Mayo card signed by Kurt to send to me.

I asked if he could get a pic of Warner holding the 1/1 printing plate. LMAO. We'll see.

He is also purchasing a handful of Cardinals Mayo cards whereas he visits regularly.

If this is all true and actually happens I'll update. It would be cool though.

Seems pretty far-fetched for someone to come up with a story for that (if he did make it up maybe he belongs in Hollywood)...hope for the best.

Don't be so surprised if this turns out to be true. Lots of members here have sold to athletes, their families, and friends. I sold a ton of stuff to Frank Thomas (old school Pirate not). I also got a handwritten letter from him thanking me for helping him finish some sets.

I actually believe it to be true. W have been emailing back and forth just shooting the sh!t. He said that Kurt gets to the practice facility around 5:30 or he would have actually got the pic for me. At least I have the Mayo auto coming. Can't complain about a free auto.

If anyone would go over the top to prove it's him, it would be Kurt Warner. Who knows? Maybe he'll personally deliver it! lol. (In all seriousness though, great guy).

I would be extremely happy receiving a Kurt Warner auto. He seems like he is definitely one of the classier guys in the league. I had something similar happen to me back in 2003. I ran an auction for some Tony Romo Fleer Ultra cards before he played in the NFL and got a crazy amount for them. Turns out the guy was a family friend and was buying cards for Tony's parents.
