In products like Inception and Supreme, it seems like the base cards have these crazy weird numberings and parallels. Cards are /462, /40, /96... I'm confused ha.
Can anyone break this numbering down and explain each parallel? ![]() -Brandon

I've heard that a lot of them are numbered after the fact based on any errors in production and having to throw some away.
Like the ones to /96 were probably /99 or /100 and they had to get rid of a few due to printing errors.

I think maybe because the company knows it's going to produce X number of boxes and there's X number of players in certain sets. They make the cards fit the total box production.

Only one's I'm pretty sure on, are the Topps Football ones. I know the Gold variant is numbered to the current year and the Black ones are numbered to how many years Topps has been in business.
Other than those, not really sure. There's some odd numbering systems in use by Panini for most of their cards.
