Default What's worse than a shiller? A RETRACTOR

I can understand people may fat-finger the keyboard here and there, but is the intent to cover up shilling by simply retracting on a majority of their shills?

93 bid retractions on the high bidder - doesn't Ebay have filters or some system to notify them of patterns that seem a weeeee bit out of the ordinary?

A seller has to report it.

Also in eBay policy it states that if you retract your bid using the reason
"entered wrong amount" you have to go back and enter the correct bid.

Bingo.

I just can't fathom the need to retract that much. He's up to 97 retractions this month alone. Can't figure out why there was none before that though.

eBay should limit the retraction ability to one time per 12 months. It is extremely rare that one should need to use it.

Seller only gave the winner less than 24hrs to pay. Already relisted it.

I use retraction all the time now. Too many sellers ignore the Best Offers I send, even when its more than a fair offer. I'll tie my money up for 24-36 hours, but not the full 48.

I agree, 48 hours for a seller to decide is too long imo. Most I would wait is a whole day. As for this thread, I think they were talking about auction bids being retracted instead of offers.

I wouldn't be that strict, maybe limit it to 4 retractions per year.

This would make shilling much more of a deterrant.

I think one is generous.

I've used eBay for 13 years and I've only retracted maybe five times, each time because of information about the item/seller that came to light after placing my bid.
