Better carreer: Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu

For me its no contest:
Reed- 61 interceptions, 11 FF, 7 TDs
Polamalu- 30 interceptions, 8 FF, 2 TDs

Bars and Bar 05-08-2013 08:17 PM

I wonder why...

TheBurg 05-08-2013 08:18 PM

Statistics will never tell the story of Troy... all I'm going to say. Both are locks for the Hall of Fame.

Nyfancam01 05-08-2013 08:19 PM

Ed Reed! For sure

Dolphins99 05-08-2013 08:21 PM

I think Polamalu is Overrated and Reed is Underrated and Ed Reed is definitly the better player.

Curious as to your logic on that.
For me its no contest:
Reed- Raven
Polamalu- Not a Raven
Fixed............

Seanathan297 05-08-2013 08:26 PM

I think Ed Reed wins without question. I would like to throw Adrian Wilson out there for your consideration as well, he doesn't get enough love.

Reed - 61 INT's, 11 FF, 9 TD's, 6 Sacks
Polamalu - 30 INT's, 8 FF, 4 TD's, 10 Sacks
Wilson - 27 INT's, 14 FF, 4 TD's, 25.5 Sacks

cardinalscards4 05-08-2013 08:28 PM

Charles Woodson
Charles Woodson
Hard to argue the numbers. I didn't realize he has racked up such impressive stats over his career:

Polamalu - 30 INT's, 8 FF, 4 TD's, 10 Sacks
Reed - 61 INT's, 11 FF, 9 TD's, 6 Sacks
Wilson - 27 INT's, 14 FF, 4 TD's, 25.5 Sacks
Woodson - 55 INT's, 29 FF, 12 TD's, 17 Sacks

I know I'm from Baltimore, so there's a bit of a bias, but I have to say Ed Reed. As good as Troy Polamalu is, he has been injured so much and missed so much time. I think that pushes it to Reed.

marinocollector 05-08-2013 08:34 PM

2 totally different positions. Can't really compare the two. I would say Polamalu does more at his position to help the Steelers than Reed helps the Ravens. I do love Reed, but a SS is a lot harder to replace than a FS, even a legend like Reed.

im neither a steeler or raven fan but for me its ed reed no doubt, being able to stay healthy and actualy be on the field for your team is a very over looked attribute.

While I am a Ravens fan, I did not create those stats.

Homer anyone?

30 more games played. 1 year more

Less combined tackles, less Stuffs. They really don't play the same position. When you want to actually pair two like players, bring it. 'Til then, stupid homer thread for sure.

Tell my why Pola has more tackles in far less games, as well as stuffs. Maybe 'cause he is the 8th in the box. Reed has never been the 8th.

So hideous for sure.

Is school out?

30 more games in only one year shows Polamalu's lack of durability. Should only be 16. Reed has over double Polamalu's interceptions with only one more year under his belt while only 35 less combined tackles. Majorly different ratios there. So I guess schools still in session.

When you actually realize they don't play the same position, then please come calling. Wow, OP obviously has never played a lick of football.

thestyle 05-08-2013 08:55 PM

Weird question. It's Ed effing Reed.

That's like asking...what is better? Boobs or chicken nuggets? Chicken nuggets are great...but we are talking about boobs here.

Ed Reed is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. TP is not, but great nonetheless.

This is coming from someone who has no bias toward either dude. Ed Reed is just a legend, yo.

While they do play 2 different positions, Reeds better at FS then Polamalu is at SS

Thats, um, because he plays free safety... which is very different from strong safety... which is more like a tiny linebacker. Also, INT's are not the begin all, end all for a free safety.. Although I am not downplaying Reed's greatness, I bet 15 of those are off BS end of the game forced passes by desperate QBs.

SacGWYNN19 05-08-2013 09:01 PM

Another stat worth mentioning......RINGS ?

thestyle 05-08-2013 09:03 PM

Yeah I don't know how even a Steelers fan could argue that Polamalu has had a better career than Ed Reed. Come on now. Being a fan is one thing, making stuff up is another.

Think that may have to do with Big Ben. 2012 playoffs were really the first time Flacco played amazing.

because you can compare corners to safeties....
