Default Dez Bryant RC Autos...fake autos?

I've seen some mention on here from time to time related to questionable autos on some Dez Bryant autographed rookie cards. Is there a general consensus related to this? Are some cards widely regarded as having fake autos, or at least questionable autos, while other cards are more worry free?

Thanks

Considering Topps is the only company that witnesses signings that makes the most sense.

yea the "neat" autos are the one's with the red flags. they aren't found necessarily in any particular product but as others said all his topps stuff is real. It really only takes 2 seconds to spot the difference between the 2 autos.

Randall Cobb has the same thing going on too. See Contenders. One is slanted and the other is vertical. I think the plates and patches all look slanted while topps is vertical.

Some people thought I was paranoid when I brought this up last year, but I agree with this above. His Plates & Patches as well as the non-SP Contenders are both very slanted and dont have the same "R" or "C". I think Limited had some slanted ones as well. I didn't spend a dime on any of those no matter how cheap they were.

I agree about Dez too. Proceed with caution.

I'm not 100% confident yet, which is why I haven't brought it up until now, but I think Bernard Pierce may also be using someone else to sign for him.

Woah, I was just about to comment saying this. His sticker autos look nothing like his on card autos plus some other stuff I've seen.

Great minds think alike

I wonder if there are any Colts with this issue. So far, everyone's sigs in Indy look consistent except for most of the stupid Reggie Wayne 2001 Topps Rookie Premier autos that are clearly forged by someone else.

The worst ones with Dez are his NT RPA's - There are tons that don't look anything alike.

Is it true then that all Dez Topps RC autos (on card or sticker) are legit, but Dez Panini autos are proceed with caution unless they look like the Contenders posted earlier in the thread?

Thanks everyone for the input. It seems the legit have a very round top the the D and a very round T. And as some have noted, appear sloppy when compared to fakes.

If I check for currently listed Contenders, the Rookie Tickets all appear legit and the other Contenders autos (the inserts) appear fake. Is that consistent with prevailing wisdom?

Finally, are there thoughts that some 2011 Cam RC autos have the same problem, or is it just that he seemed to change his auto from the very early ones to the version with the C joining the Newton that is prevalent?

Thanks again.

That is the thing about Topps. They witness all signings of autographs. Sticker or on-card. I wish I could find video of these signings though... You would think that Topps isn't flying all these players to their HQ to sign, especially stickers. They are probably sending the stickers out through mail and then video conferencing the signings. Especially for vets. Not sure how they do 5 star.

Panini however video logs all sorts of stuff. They have video after video of signings, game-used memorabilia maildays, how cards are made, etc. The deal with the signing videos is that they are scarce. I did see a Cam Newton signing video.

I agree. I'm a Cobb collector and have noticed the same issues that you're talking about. Particularly with some of the Panini products. I think the card companies and in this instance Panini, get pressed on time in relation to the release date or other circumstances and in turn the athlete has friends or other people sign for them as well. The differences in the Cobb autos are less noticeable in comparison to that of the Dez autos I've seen.
