Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm a noob to grading and was thinking about sending a few cards in to get graded and wanted some further knowledge on the subject. I know some of you are awesome at sending cards to get graded. Some questions I would like answered please. How to tell if a card/cards are good for grading? Ex like is there a program you use or way to find out centering? How to determine what card/cards to get graded? Person who helps/educates me the most will get a nick fairley atomic rookie refractor and a rolando meclain contenders defensive rookie of the year insert. Thanks in looking/helping.

Well McClain retired, so don't grade that, and te Suh prob isn't worth it unless you just wan it for protection, but even then, I wouldn't grade it. Typically you will want to grade high end cards and/or PC Cards you like that you want protected. To see which ones to grade you need to first look at the centering, find the card boarder/patern and see if it is even left to right and top to bottom. If that is good then take a magnify glass and look at the edges/corners/surface for any issues. Finally, look at the surface in the light for imperfections, moving it around in the light helps find them. If your looking for a good grade and big issues you see will make it not worth it, and a couple small ones won't either.

Check the corners on both sides of the card. Check surface for blemishes/scratches. Check edges and check autograph... especially autographs taht are cutoff, streaky or faded.

Another good thing to do is search ebay for a graded card from the same set and check out how it looks, try to match up the centering on your card to it. With boarders, you just need to make sure the space on all fours sides is even. Good luck. |
