Default Do you take the chance on a game worn item?

That has no documentation but you think it might have been used during one of your favorite sports moments in your whole life?

The seller told me he found it at a thrift store, but the thrift store also wouldn't be anywhere near where you'd think it would be if its from this player

I might have photo matched it, but it's hard to find too many images to compare to because the game was like 8 years ago. But there is a repair mark on the jersey that looks like it could match a mark on an image I found, looks to be about the right place and size, but it's pretty small without a great photo so it's kinda hard to tell with certainty

I wouldn't, but I'm the type who would always question the item's authenticity whenever I looked at it. If I can't trust it 100%, it gives me 0 joy. Thrift store find? I can hardly believe card store memorabilia.

...but that's just how my brain is wired/trained. If you have reason to believe this is the real deal and you want it, that's your call. Try to think clearly and make the choice you'll regret less. Maybe that means buying the item. Maybe not.

If its from the thift store you might as well buy it since it should be cheap....."Shoot it was .99 cents!"

No, the guy selling it said he bought it at a thrift store, but one about 2,000+ miles away from where you'd think this item might be found

Problem I still see:
1) Can only be traced as far back as a thrift score...according to the seller, anyway.
1b) If it ended up at a thrift store, that likely means a sports memorabilia shop (which would pay more) wasn't interested without a COA. Who needed to dump this piece so quick?

But hell. There HAVE been crazy finds at thrift stores sometimes. The seller doesn't seem like he'd knowingly sell a fake, considering the odd stuff he sells...

I've seen some strange thrift store finds that you'd think anyone with half a brain could get more money out of it from any place other than a thrift store, even a street corner

One guy on here found an authentic Cutler jersey at one, a Nike one too. So it was obviously brand new since those haven't been out long, who sells that to a thrift store?

You could sell it to anyone, anywhere, for more than a thrift store would have given th guy for it

I would need a lot of clear photomatch evidence to even consider it.

Only if you can photomatch it! I wouldn't buy anything unless I can personally photomatch it. Everything I own I photomatched ON MY OWN!

I agree, if you can photomatch and its a PC item go for it. Don't pay what you would for a certified one. The best idea is to get the guy down to his lowest price and if you're willing at that chance than go for it. There are fakes and it could be, but most idiot fakes would just use an "authentic" jersey and hope to pass it off, when there is an obvious big differences in actual game jerseys than "authentic". If its atleast a game jersey your chances that its real are atleast pretty good. If its a 'meh' player and game jersey, its legit. If its a huge name, than let the luck be with you, probably 50:50 shot.

Exclamation people donate junk to the thift

when was the last time you donated a high value item to a thrift store? NEVER? yes, it DOES NOT happen! so, some seller creates a story to inflate the value of his find? sound familiar? yeah, EVERY scammer does the same thing!

when will you clueless sheep wake up? many of the largest game used memorabilia dealers in the country have been arrested for selling fake #@#@#@#@!! excuse my french,... many of the coa's that come with game used items are bogus anyways! so, is some sellers, thrift store find legit? almost 99 percent NOT!

what could have happened is, a clueless noob who buys all this fake junk figured out all his treasures are worthless and donated them to the good will! THAT is a more likely story, js... donated them without the bogus coa's

I used to work at a thrift store and we got a signed Joseph Addai jersey in once. Not game used...but it was signed by Addai. Funny part was it was like "To Joe, Best Wishes" or something. Who gives that stuff away?

Or people are d.cks, their wife leaves them and donates their jerseys to goodwill. I have a couple $1,000+ Barry Sanders from the 90's that I got from a friend, had no clue what they were worth and wanted me to sell them at a yardsale after he moved overseas. I won't ever sell or acknowledge them, but some older cards worth huge money get donated/sold for pennies. Same happens with peeved women ditchin husbands crap.

Photo match does not mean much. Scammers faked a lot of jerseys to look like the jersey in the photo.

id be inclined to pass. so many ways to pull off scams, even with COAs, just best not to risk it. on the other hand, since it sounds like it would be a forever-pc item, if you believe it's real, then go for it!
