Do I have to wait for my offer to be claimed before my claim can be shipped?

I don't think that's necessary. It's reasonable to expect any card is going to be claimed eventually.

point wasn't to post one at a time, it was to give away cards you didn't want to someone who wanted them

We're not posting one at a time. There's like 7 cards up for grabs at the moment.

List above is updated. Just be patient. It's getting late on the east coast now so this probably won't get much love until tomorrow. They'll go, don't worry.

Thanks for the help on this mn. Hopefully this thread will flourish now that everyone is on the same page. I'm hoping that people will keep the list updated as they go so that you and I don't have to moderate as much

If anyone wants to post any nice Buckeyes cards I have some cool stuff to post in return!

Nice thing you are doing OP but these pay it forwards are always a train wreck, good luck everyone!

The first thread was. Hopefully with all the ground rules set this one will run a little smoother. Seems to be going okay so far. Quite a few cards given away.

Please edit me out of this thread. This is BS.
This is not mindbinge's thread. This is not what he wanted. This is nothing here that says, "pay it forward" or "having fun" especially when everyone can choose to veto something that is not "valuable" in their eyes.
I picked the Titus Young from Gbulldogs1010 not because it was valuable, but because I wanted to move the game along and appreciated what he put up. Do I still want the Young? DEFINITELY.
But I will PAY IT FORWARD and give away something in my own rights. Please remove me from this thread. Thank you.

I tried to take a consensus as best I could. The consensus was that ground rules needed to be set up, even if it is a 'paying it forward' thread. The majority of the people are going to understand the concept but, as we saw in the other thread, one or two bad posts can derail it. The hope was that by setting a few simple ground rules that everything would run more smoothly.

The veto was a consensus decision as well and I don't think anyone is going to exploit it, especially since you need 3 people. It's only fair that people post cards of similar value to what they're taking, otherwise the whole system derails. This gives the whole thing a bit of accountability. In your situation, it doesn't matter what the value of the Titus Young was. It just matters that you posted something in return that was of similar value, like you did. Nobody is going to critique this down to a dollar or even $5-10 level. It's just to keep people from claiming a $30 auto and posting a $2 auto in return. Have to draw the line somewhere or people are going to take advantage of it, no matter what foundation of generosity the entire thing is built on.

Again, please don't take any of this out on me. I'm sorry that you don't like the new setup. I tried to take the best advice from what everyone was saying in the old thread and converge it all into a clean start. None of this was dictatorial. Just trying to volunteer to help out as best I can.

Hey Ivbaseball I have a question for you: I have a few cards that I would like to put up but maybe they all don't add up to the value of a decent Packers card that someone may post in the future. I am a legit Packers fan and would PC the card and NOT try to flip it. Do I get a shot at the card?

Also, I know that text can convey the wrong tones. I am not coming off rude or sarcastic. Legit question here. Thank you sir.

There were ground rules already set up. Not everyone wanted to play by the rules and wanted a card that was "valuable."
If there was $100 card thrown into the mix, and someone claimed it first and "paid it forward" with a $20 card, he'd get chewed up by everyone... Why?
Because he beat everyone to the punch.
Then he pays it forward with a $20 card and again, everyone chews him up.
Why?
Because he beat everyone to the punch.
It ain't paying it forward if everyone is waiting around for something they can put into a magnetic holder. Yes. Everyone tries to put their "valuable" cards in mags.

I know it's my post, but I'm gonna try not to be the authority on these things. If you just want my opinion, I wouldn't post up any cards with the intention of grabbing something later and retroactively saying you're claiming it for the cards you gave away earlier. I think the best way to do it is to wait until you see a card you want and claim it with the cards you want to give away. It just seems like it would get too sketchy the other way.

If my understanding is correct, all of the cards currently posted to be given away are coming from people who have already claimed something and are paying it forward or people who are just giving cards away with no claim.

Again, not the authority and I don't want to make this a police state. You guys can do what you'd like because this is a democracy, but in my opinion this is the cleanest way to do it.

I'm sorry, but I don't really seem to follow what you're saying. I think what you said backs up the idea of having a veto system. People aren't going to be mad because they missed out on the $100 card, they're going to be mad because someone is getting it without properly paying it forward. This keeps that from happening.

Explain to me how paying it forward is "proper?" This goes back to "value" as being "proper" for most of the members on the other thread.
A veto system is setup when no one likes it. Who veto's free stuff??? It was suppose to be a "free stuff now pay it forward" thread.
It's now turned out to be a trade thread man. I'm sorry. Please take me off. I'll send Gbulldogs1010 something on my own.
