Default Alex Smith Currently Has More Rushing Yards Than Colin Kaepernick...

He also has more than Cam Newton and Russell Wilson.

I'm not gonna say "I told you so" to the 49ers because hindsight is always 20/20, but who saw that coming?

If I had to guess Andy Reid might have something to do with it.

He's seen a few mobile quarterbacks in his time. Even if Smith doesn't have the speed of those guys maybe Andy at least knows how to get the best out of a still "mobile" QB.

Alex Smith has always run pretty good. He's slow by no means, he's usually just under utilized in that capacity. Good for him.

It's not like the 49ers were terrible under Smith (in 2012 before he got hurt). They were 6-2. Smith had a QB rating of 104.2 and he was on pace for personal records in basically every major stat category.

But all the excitement surrounding Kaepernick's emergence made him an afterthought. I will give the 49ers credit though for letting him go to KC.

Alex looks very solid this year as a Chiefs fan from KC. He is very quick and slides to protect himself when he scrambles. He found the perfect fit here. People can fawn all over Kaepernick but Alex is solid

Only in the last 3 years can you really say you have seen Alex Smith be Alex Smith. The first 6 years of his career he had to transition from the college game, then transition to one head coach after another, and one offensive coordinator after another. Only when he felt he had the coaches backing did the guy start to really thrive and he has been really good since then.

I am going out on a limb, and saying that Alex Smith has a Super Bowl in him. It may not be this year or even next year, but I really think a game manager has the ability to control the clock, and thus the line of scrimmage, and get a ring especially with a stout defense backing him.

He's a good mobile qb so I'm not surprised he's doing well running.

I think the 49ers and Panthers are looking long term at Kaep and Newton with the hope of turning them into pocket passers. But I don't see how you can expect them to really succeed like that. When Kaep was at Nevada and Cam at Auburn, their threat to run is what allowed them to succeed. Coach Reid is allowing Smith to do what he did at Utah and that's run wild and be smart enough to avoid getting his head ripped off by a crazy LB.

I draft Kaep and Cam in my 2 fantasy leagues, hoping the teams would let them run loose when they didn't ultimately succeed as pocket passers...I'm still waiting haha

I was one of the few Niners fans or otherwise who was as upset and outspoken about Alex's departure from SF. I still think it was a crap move.

say it all you want, most real Niners fans already have much more confidence in Kaepernick's ability and upside compared to Alex Smith who after having 1.5 good seasons out of 7 now, some are considering him a great QB

migraine's spirit wanted me to convey a message to his fellow Niners fans:

They kept the wrong QB.

I'm not sure if he is serious or just screwing with us from the afterlife.

Most real niners fans? I'm as real as it comes. Fan for over 20 years. And the way they treated Alex Smith was disgusting and I'm super thrilled for him and his success in KC.

I was skeptical of Smith because of how many down years he had. Chiefs fan here. But he is a solid QB and the Chiefs D is very nice this year. Oh and he can run..

Hopefully Kaepernick gets back into the hang of things against Texas if not we could bring in Colt McCoy and he could turn out to be the Kaepernick we saw last season lol.

R.I.P. Kenny!

And Kaep running is too predictable, especially after dismantling the Packers in the Playoffs. He just needs to settle back down and remember who he has as a supporting cast. It definitely hurts not having Crabtree on the field, but at least he has Boldin.
