Default Teaser Gallery: Panini America Opens Some Early Boxes of 2013 Absolute Football

Teaser Gallery: Panini America Opens Some Early Boxes of 2013 Absolute Football
Oct 31st 2013, 16:40, by Tracy Hackler

This time tomorrow, Panini America’s 2013 Absolute Football product will be live and rocking in hobby shops across North America. As has become customary, the venerable brand with the passionate pigskin following will deliver one memorabilia or autograph card in every pack, a lineup bolstered by the fan-favorite Rookie Premiere Materials insert and Spectrum Autographs parallels.
New this year are the one-per-pack Hogg Heaven cards and a bold, player-centric design that has received rave review so far. In the Teaser Gallery that follows, we take you pack-by-pack through three boxes of 2013 Absolute Football, a 12-pack thrill ride that generated big hits and even bigger entertainment value.

Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of 2013 Absolute Football.

I love the design of the base cards! They look great.

Cards look pretty good. I think the RPA placement is not very good but an auto patch is an auto patch...and is it just me or does Panini rig their preview boxes they break?

That would be a brutal 3 box break at $140 a box though

I wonder if that Doug Martin is GAME USED. If so, that's a pretty sweet card.

edit: After a 2nd look, I don't see how that could be game used

I love that the player's names are like smack dab right in the middle of the card on the base. Looks horrendous, although not half as bad as the RPA autos. Good lord those are hideous.

That had to be 3 of the worst boxes I have seen. I would have been pissed if I had opened those.

Panini has been making weird choices lately on both their font and wording placement. Both in football and basketball.

I really like those TEAM jersey cards, very cool. Is there anywhere to look up how many of those will be made, which teams, if there's a prime version, and who the players from each team will be?

I don't mind the looks of the base cards, agree with name being in the middle doesn't look all that good. Everything else is nice though! Well, besides the price, $140.00 for this is way to high, should be at least $40 less.

I wouldn't pay $50 for a box of this.

Agreed. Does anyone have info on how these companies come up with prices?

It's a weird thing--they are trying to pay athletes who make, in many cases, millions of dollars for them to sign autographs. I was going to say they should see how poorly cards sell on the secondary market and just lower what they pay athletes to sign but.....

The card companies aren't in a very good position because it's not like they can go hit up a rookie and be like, "your auto is only worth about a buck. Soooo, go ahead and take 3 days out of your life to sign these 10,000 stickers." The players just won't sign.

Now, I'm not saying the card companies can't do things better but when it comes to obtaining autographs the athletes/NFLPA kind of has them by the balls. I'm sure they have to overpay just to get the players to sign. Which then means they have to charge us more.

The bolded is the issue more than anything. None of those guys are going to be worth anything when the market is flooded with their cards.

People are still buying though, no matter what these companies put out there. I don't expect the market to change any time soon. The only way it will change is if people put their foot down and don't buy.

Definitely not buying this. Prestige was released in June and had two autos and two memorabilia per box at $80. Same autos on the same stickers. Panini has released numerous of products. Always fun buying boxes, but its out of hand. Anything good will always be on Ebay. And who is Allen Bonner?

I wasn't talking about the price of boxes as much as the value of these draft picks on the secondary market. There's never going to be a market for any of those guys as long as there are 10,000+ autos of there.

The price fluctuation between products like Prestige and Absolute is all in the name.
