Default Is the football market dead??

I haven't been able to sell very much on Ebay in the last month. Is anyone else seeing the same. Is it because there are no hot rookies. Besides Calvin Johnson and Peyton Manning, who is having a great year??

Yep. If it is not the flavor of the week or a big name star, it seems that no one is looking.

19 Panini + 19 Topps products released of this class so far = 38 different releases this year so far. Taken with 40 releases between Topps and Panini last year there are 80 different products and >400,000 autograph cards floating around. Soooo if you don't have Topps Chrome or Contenders goodluck.

Remember Black Friday and Xmas shopping is coming up and add that to all the new products that get released so quick equals less buying

Cam is going to win over quite a few people with this performance in the spotlight.

I think the real reason is all of the junk. Topps Chrome should be good!

Price your items fairly and they sell. I haven't had a problem, even on here.

If topps finds a way to screw up chrome then this class might be dead forever.

Selling was dead for me for nearly two months. But its picked up a little bit. And its mostly small buyers, and they are wanting way below eBay.

How much have you purchased in the last month?

It goes hand in hand. It seems most people who complain about selling being hard are just sellers.

As a seller, I haven't seen it be awful. It's not dead, you just have to be reasonable and understand where the market is right now.

There's a quarterback for the Eagles named Nick Foles. He's selling really, really well. Other than that, it's pretty dead on the mid to high-end stuff. I agree with a previous poster though, 2014 will be huge out of the gate.

I think we all saw this coming with with lack of skill position players in the draft.

I agree with you on that. I have sold 3 items on BIN in the last 2 days by doing just that. I think as long as you go the reasonable route you will still sell some items even when it tougher to sell.

Alshon Jeffery is still selling pretty constant.....lots of Bears fans like myself that see a great future in this kid!! Prices have dropped on a little on his lower end stuff, so you have to be reasonable.... Not sure what you're trying to sell, but if you price it competitive - you shouldn't have a problem moving named players....

I saw this today:

Topps Prime Booklet Rookie Auto Alshon Jeffery Bears 9 10 | eBay

$80-100 card MAX....some people just don't understand....SMDH

I posted that I think its a combination of some terrible products, combined with a terrible class of rookies. We all point to the class, but Panini has really put out some turds this year.

I agree. Panini has only produced sticker auto products except playbook. Elite and prestige don't really count as much because of the 00 airbrush jerseys

The bigger problem is people in denial about where the current market is.

People are obviously free to sell at what prices they want - I'll never tell someone what they "have" to sell at - but too many sellers want to believe the market is the same as it was 2 or 3 years ago.

People choose not to adjust their prices. Their choice. Also a reason sales decline and you just see less "buying" threads.

I'm not a major buyer by any stretch - but I post daily things I'm looking for - and 80% of the time someone replies back to me with some price that was 18 months ago. They refuse to adjust for the current prices.

General statement obviously as there are exceptions.

So I agree the market is smaller but we'd see more activity if people were more realistic in their wants (assuming they really want to sell)

I agree with the above that said if you price your cards reasonably, you can probably do decently with sales. I've had a really good month on COMC, and I think the reason for that is I'm dealing with primarily low value cards, that are priced fairly low. I don't notice a huge spike in my store credit, but it slowly goes up by a few dollars each day.

I personally think we are going back to the 80s and 90s. MASS production. MASS production. MASS production. Too many autos. Andrew Luck has auto jersey INSERTS numbered to 499. That is stupid. You can now buy Doug Martin autos for $15. RGIII autos for $70. Too much stuff.
