I'm kind of on the fence here.

1. That appears to be a backwards pass. "Technically" he didn't set the record.

2. He/ the Broncos should've had Peyton play the first series of the 2nd half just in case for instances like this.

3. I don't agree with them taking the record away for the sole reason that had the Broncos had any doubt at the time that the record would be in question, then Peyton would've played the first series. He deserves the record. Period. It's not like time was winding down and he barely got it before the game ended.

If upheld, I understand the Manning "haters" will always add an asterisk, but the fact of the matter is Peyton would've got the record one way or the other had there been any doubt at the time.

Take the record away.

I want a chip on his shoulder in the playoffs.

Again, this is why I stated before that you never beat a record by 1. He "beat" the record by 1 yard. He should've played 1 drive in the second half to solidify that record, but didn't. The crap of "Well, he would've beat it anyways" doesn't apply because he didn't play the second half. For all we know, he could've had pressure, scrambled, and thrown a pass for a 10 yard loss and then got injured on the play leaving him even more shy of the record. You can't play the "Maybe this, maybe that" game with records. It has to be verifiable and not a guessing game. He loses the record because he chose to sit.

Might as well review the strahan sack record and take it away cause farve laid down... makes no sense and pointless to take it away, whats done is done, on another note they should take away the seahawks win against the packers on the fail mary attempt

Not the same thing. A backwards pass is considered a run. A fall down and someone touching them is still a sack.

The Hawks win was legit, so I don't know how you added that into the equation.

not likely, but I do understand the argument

For full disclosure....If this was Brady I would probably be arguing the opposite even while knowing in the back of my head he deserved it.

i think you have to be consistent regardless of the weight of the play. if any other quarterback would have had the stats changed then you need to change it. you can't allow a big moment to change the way you do things.

I didn't know he only beat the record by one yard...

That was dumb.

Wow... that would really hit Manning where it hurts... in the Stats. He'd probably rather give up the win than to give up one of his regular season records...

Yeah it was a backwards pass, but it will suck for Manning.

Naw, he's not a diva like Tom Brady.

Actually I wouldn't, If it was Brady I wouldn't take this "record" seriously knowing that he was given extra yards that was clearly a lateral/backward pass.

exactly.... Brady wouldn't have been out there just to break the record by a yard...

The way the Raiders were defending, if Manning would have played the second half, Manning would have smashed the record by a couple hundred yards!

I think it was more the team wanted him to have the record. Manning didn't seem too fazed by it really from what I saw.
