Default Ernie Sims is an Eagle

3 Team Trade:

Broncos Get

2010 5th Round Pick from Eagles

Eagles Get

Sims

Lions Get

Tony Scheffler and 7th Rounder from Broncos

What a STEAL for the Eagles. Why the Lions need another pass catching TE, I do not know.

That was an awful trade for the Lions, Sims was the only draft pick they did right!

Why they needed a TE? Maybe because Fitzsimmons retired and Pettigrew tore his ACL last year.

I am not a huge fan of the trade for the Lions, but I can understand why they made it. I would assume they will address the LB vacancy through FA or the draft.

& the top 3 picks from Denvers '06 draft are gone

Low risk high reward for the Eagles. A 5th round pick for a player who might not be the same he was since injured is worth it.

Denver should have gotten more on their end

Yeah, but didn't Scheffler bust himself up also?

As a Lions fan, I'm not crazy about this trade, but it's not that big of a deal either.

Sims has simply not lived up to the billing of being a top 10 draft pick. Sims was selected to play in the Tampa-2 system as a coverage OLB, but that's not what the Lions play anymore. I never really thought he had a great nose for the ball anyway...

Linehan likes to utilize double tight-end sets. Plus, this gives Stafford another weapon to throw to.

Levy and Peterson are solid starters but now there is a hole at OLB. Maybe they like Zach Follett more than we thought. You have to wonder if this changes their draft strategy now, and if they'll target a LB in round 2 or 3...

Crap..guess I'll be putting up all my Simms stuff online tonight, had just been starting to put a nice liittle lot together too! Scheffler is a nice pick (from Western too), but I liked Simms. Passing TE dont do much when the rest of the line cant block!

Excited to have Sims come to Philadelphia. Hopefully he's better than Gocong.

Some reports have the Lions possibly being interested in Keith Bullock, who played under Schwartz in Tennessee. I could see Bullock being a one-year stopgap player at OLB while they try to find/groom an eventual starter for that spot...
