Default Will Schaub bounce back?

Matt Schaub's first pass of last season was intercepted, as was his last pass of the season. In between, he established an NFL record by tossing a pick six in four consecutive games.

But he will be on a new team after having a bit of time off. MJD will join him as well. It appears the Raiders are giving him the starting gig already and plan on riding him out for years. Are we thinking the Raiders will be improved? About the same or worse?

He can rebound. He is a good QB, with right coaching.

he has played very well at quarterback with the exception of last year… look at his previous year…he didn't just forget how to play qb… if you look at that team as a whole last year, it was a great number of things that went wrong… schaub will bounce back just fine… he is the best thing that could have happened to oakland.. they get him after the one down year he had and the houston fans turned on him.. now he's back.. they have added some nice weapons.. they will continue to add through the draft.. oakland will surprise this year, on the back of another good year by matt schaub

He went to the Black Hole where players die. Him and MJD are through.

He did have a terrible season but that was partly due to the predictability of Kubiak's offense. Sherman said they knew were the passes were going and what offense was being run on certain downs. It was the climax of 5 years with the exact same plays run over and over and Schaub loseing his confidence. Kubiak never let his QBs call plays at the line and rarely even let them audible at the line. Expect him to make one boneheaded play a game even if he gets back to 100%. I hope he does well because I appreciated what he did in Houston.

The change of scenery might do him good. He was never a bad qb, just had a crap season. Eli gets a free pass amongst most fans and his TD/INT numbers were like reversed. Schaub should get one as well, since the entire team/staff was in meltdown mode. He could be very serviceable in Oakland and put up decent numbers in the new look offense. Carson did it with a bunch of kids. With James Jones and MJD added to the mix, I think he can be just as productive, if not more.

This is why they passed on Peyton. Kubiak would have no control over him.

I hope that a new team will give him a fresh beginning. Don't expect any passes over 20 yards - his arm can't deliver them.

9 times out of 10 players in football past their late 20's never "rebound", be it from injury or from a terrible season, etc. I don't see him bouncing back. Could be wrong but the odds are against him

I've always liked schaub. I never put any money into his cards, but I believe he's a very decent qb. Alot better than a bunch of others that are starting around the league.

Well I imagine he should do better than last year.

Just 12 months ago, he was in Top 5 QB discussions (which I didn't agree with). Odd how one season can completely destroy a QB's reputation.

of course he will. everyone has bad years. he has been a beast on the field prior to that. people like to avoid calling him a good qb but how did they have one of the best receivers in the league and go that far without a good qb?

he will continue to make bad decisions at the biggest time of need. He's the oposite of clutch and always has been. He will have decent stats but he's not a game winner at all.

He wasn't a bad QB for the most part of his career.

I think what the fans and media did to him was unfair and it really got to him and affected his play. I mean showing up at his house and sending death threats.

That can't help someone get over their hump.

It's all about how he reacts to the first interception he throws. Confidence is a big key for him.

what one fan did reflects on that one alone. As for the game when he went out fans didn't cheer until he got up off the field, but everyone said he was cheered being injured. Slight the few not all for the actions of a few.

unfortunately schaub was in a doomed system, but trust me when I say half of his failures were still his fault. He has to seriously improve his decision making.

I think the change will do him well and he'll bounce back just fine in Oakland. It's pretty tough to do your job properly when everyone and their brother are trying to run you out of town. By the way that team was terrible last year all the way around no one is above blame because they pretty much did nothing right and tanked the whole season away.

I just don't get why they didn't keep Jennings. I mean they got MJD and could have paired them two back together- would have helped Schaub I think.
