2012 sp authentic is under 90 now. I've pulled two wilsons, one alshon, and a richardson in the 4 boxes I've opened.

Chrome

You have a shot at decent autos. A lot are on card. You can also hit some nice base RCs, and some nice colored stuff

question 2: is 2013 strata a good buy at 50? and is momentum a good buy at 100?

No and no IMO. Unless you collect either set then it has basically no ROI. As others have said, Chrome is always a good buy at $60-65 a box.

IMO I'd say no for both as well. I've opened two boxes of strata for around 50 each and probably didn't get even 20 bucks value out of both combined.

Good lord look at the sheep saying Chrome is a good break, what a joke

Chrome is by far one of the worst ROI breaks in the hobby but because it's one of the most desired sets people seem to ignore the downsides to chrome breaks and just think it's amazing. The overwhelming majority of Chrome boxes give you a $1-3 auto and then 4-5 $1-2 parallels if you can even find a buyer for your Kenny Britt Black /399 type card.

Everyone always says the parallels are the added bonus in Chrome, but it's pretty rare to get a parallel numbered to less than /299, and even when you do get one, unless it's of one of about 15-20 (at most) players, it's still a $10 or less card

Chrome is a by the case type of break and even then you're PRAYING your case has a red or gold auto that is going to pay for a third to half of the case itself.

75% of Chrome boxes won't leave you with even a $5 card

so if chrome isn't the best...what is? Im not looking for a break to necessarily make money on but I'd like a break that is fun and I will get a decent amount of value back from the break.

Zona, considering how cheap it is right now, Chrome is still probably the best bang for your buck. The OP is looking for something decent for the best price, what other product do you suggest value wise and please don't say Prizm lol. You're going to be "praying" every product you break this year. With Chrome it's at least possible to hit a decent player's on card auto with the CHANCE of something huge. You'll most likely be eating money, but that is every product. Chrome is always a fun break for the price.

Pick a box dude, there are winners and losers. I personally don't like most newish stuff. The base sets are not collectable, the inserts are terrible. I actually don't mind strata, the base set isn't that bad and you have a chance at some hits. Then again, I would rather buy old products. One that I enjoyed was 2001 Fleer Tradition Glossy. For less than 45 bucks I got a Drew Brees RC jersey, a Glossy Pat Tillman "Unsung Heroes" RC (about a 12-15 dollar card), some numbered RCs and inserts and a ton of awesome looking base cards.

Nothing from 2013 will bring you good value.

Make a list of some you like for the price, find some breaks on blowout or youtube and do some research. Every product has its winners and losers.

I would honestly stay away from most 2013, but a few that may be fun are Prime, Chrome, Contenders, Playbook (under 100. Hope you get a vet or hof)
Other years- Prime Sigs 2011 or 2012. I thought 2011 gridiron was a fun break. Only 65.

Whatever you choose, do research on it before spending the money. You will always be able to find previous breaks online. Check youtube for breaks from Cards Infinity.

True, to many.

For me, looking through my PC and seeing every card fit exactly into my overall goals is awesome. Also, not having to deal with base cards....

Caveat: I realize that behind every disciplined singles buyer is a sacrificial wax buster. Thank you to those who bust and please bust more Fleer Retro!

IMO I would not break anything from 2013. Any box from 2012 with a decent price tag is going to be better. Its the best draft in a decade. But you must pick it up at a good price most have went up once this years cards came out. Good luck.

Topps Prime. Should still be able to get it for under 60 bucks, and you get 4 hits, one of which is a quad jersey auto. Plus the cards themselves look fantastic... how can you go wrong??
