I would say most people would agree with that also.
I mostly agree with that sentiment, however I would never buy a box or join a break with the hopes of hitting a parallel greater then /49. Im hoping to hit that 1/1 or auto, when i dont, but do hit that greater then /49, atleast it feels like I hit something. I would say most people that bust wax are hoping for that huge lottery ticket and pc is an added bonus and many collectors who understand the risks/odds of busting wax are mostly content with the pc hits.

Just understand that if people stop busting, that $5 card you referred to, could be $15-20 if there is less supply available, but the same demand

Obviously everyone is aiming to hit that big card, but in regards to rising prices, I don't think it will happen, at least at that amount. Sure, the first may go for more, but that happens now already, the first couple go for the most. It may rise a little, (say, like, 5 to 8) but that slight rise will not be enough to warrant buying Panini's already inflated initial box price.

This is why Topps Chrome/Topps Base Football sells so well. Collectors like it, it's cheap because that's the kind of product it is, and you get a lot more cards for the price. A Jumbo box of Football is around the same as Prestige on release, but I would rather the more than likely almost a full 440 card base set, and loads of inserts and 3 hits that Topps gets me for $100, than a Prestige box with 4 hits, but a lot less cards, a lot less inserts, and a much smaller collecting base.

The product/company matters more for demand in this case, in my opinion. There may be less cards to go around, but there may also be less people chasing them. if you don't like Panini cards, you don't like them, the fact that there are less Panini cards being busted won't influence your opinion of them.

This stuff isn't exclusive to Panini. People just bust the newest stuff and they need to mark down the old stuff to move it.
And while Panini does have their own design issues, half of the Topps/Bowman releases are derivatives of base Topps football. That's not desirable either.

Unfortunately, the licenses are so expensive today, that both companies are forced to mass product junk for the most part.

Panini just doesn't offer the same type of value. A Panini monopoly, er, I mean exclusive, will only make the hobby more expensive for collectors. Hard core collectors will keep collecting. Others, who are big fans of Topps products and those who are more laid back when it comes to collecting will probably spend a lot less money until there is another rookie class like 2012.

I will believe this when I see it! I call myself pretty 'laid back' when it comes to collecting and knowing how many cards I purchase in the off season or when I'm supposed to be saving and waiting for other releases is far too much. I will probably continue to buy monopolistic tendencies like Panini because when it comes to a sweet card, a card for a PC, or a card I think will flip for $, then I will spend. Lack of self control, not totally, but sometimes close when I look at my monthly spending.

Okay just got off the phone with Panini.

I asked them if anyone can give a statement about the NFL licensing, the operator told me he is not allowed to give any information about the current statement on the NFL exclusive license. IF there were to be anything to do with an exclusive license it would be announced at a press conference.

x2. Panini products drop drastically because people find out they are junk.

I'm sure we'll hear something from Nationals about it.

Panini should address the RG3 Russell contenders variation autos as well. Those are not counterfeits they just made more than they stated as the print run.

If this happens, does anyone think that the last Topps Chrome Set goes through the roof, being the last Chrome release?

No its entirely dependant on rookie class success when it comes to holding sealed product.

If true, seems like the kind of announcement saved for the National to capitalize on the event's media coverage

It's definitely true. Not sure if this article has been posted yet:

Further Implications of Possible Panini NFL Exclusive | Sports Cards Uncensored

One major rumor that is circling now is that Panini will likely acquire either Topps or Upper Deck so all is not lost with actually good NFL cards or brands.
