Default BGS slab damaged in the mail ???

Has anyone ever purchased a Beckett (BGS) graded card and received it damaged in the mail?

I just received a message on eBay from a buyer asking to return an item... The buyer claims the BGS slab was cracked badly in the mail. I asked for an image and the case looks extremely bad in my opinion. It wouldn't surprise me if the card was slightly damaged, as well.

Has anyone ever expierenced this? Obviously, this is a first for me.

(card was wrapped in bubble wrap and padded envelope) -- the damage was definitely done with extreme force.

Every time I've done a BGS submission there is always a couple cards with some chipping on the case. I've never had any cracks though.

It must've got jammed in the mail sorter or was underneath something extremely heavy. It happens though. I've had one come in chipped, but that's it.

Yeah it happens man. I've sent them surprising in a bubble mailer only and they arrived fine but going to start sending them in small flat rate boxes with bubble wrap around card.

The only submission I ever received from BGS directly had a couple damaged slabs and one with a large crack. Seems they are pretty flimsy.

Yup, bought one recently and it came cracked. Worked it out with seller so we split the re-casing fee with BGS. So, it all worked out at the end!

overkill or not, i never send a BGS slab in a padded mailer. too much can go wrong.

i use boxes only for slabs.

Thanks for all of the inputs...

I am familiar with the 'cracks' or 'chips' (typical wear, etc...) on BGS slabs. I guess I should have clarified just how badly the damage appears to be.

That appears to be comparable to the cracked slab I received from BGS, fwiw.

Not that it needs to be said again...but yes, it can happen. This happened to me with a PSA card (which I understand is flimsier) but was wrapped in bubble wrap tightly in a flat rate box...

THIS is why you pay for insurance.
