Playoff Prestige Short Prints
Okay, after opening quite a bit of this product, and doing research, here's my educated guess as to what the 10 short prints are for 2008 Playoff Prestige.

I don't think Kenny Phillips is an SP. I pulled 2 out of 6 boxes and there are a few listed on eBay.
It might be #189 Reggie Smith |
That stinks. I was hoping Kenny Phillips IS a SP as that is the only one that I have from that list.
|
Yeah, this list is not 100% accurate at this moment, I'm trying to track listings on Ebay and I had not seen any Kenny Phillips yet, but I'll update the list as I figure out who they are, but I'd say this list is about 80% correct sp far. Thanks for the info. I've asked Donruss for the list, but they'll only give it to Beckett, who will then post it on their web site in a few weeks.
|
IMO the only ones I would feel sure about being SP are 110 Chauncey Washington, 116 Chris Long, 121 Dan Connor, 139 Felix Jones, 142 Harry Douglas, 148 Jed Collins, 155 Jordy Nelson, 166 Kevin Smith, 177 Matt Flynn. I pulled the C. Long and Connor but all others eluded my case. I was short 5 others but acquired them easily for about 2 bucks each. Sedrick Ellis, Paul Hubbard, Mark bradford, Chad Henne, and Fred Davis
|
So were not thinking McFadden is a SP?
|
I pulled a Mcfadden in my case. I was suprised Jake Long wasn't in the set.
|
It's good that McFadden and Long aren't SPs. Their stuff goes for enough already.
|
I don't believe Jake Long is in the set at all. Beckett has him listed as card #201 but haven't seen any listed. It is pretty bad that they omitted the #1 pick in the draft.
McFadden is definitely not an SP. |
Yeah, I pulled plenty of McFaddens, definately not a short print.
|
I pulled a Kevin Smith today and it was in a pack with another rookie.
|
Okay, Kenny Phillips is not a short print, but Reggie Smith #189 is. I'm feeling pretty confident about this list now.
I've updated the list with recent sales pricing too. |
A buddy of mine pulled a Felix Jones, do you guys agree he should move it asap before other products come out and take attention away from the SP's or do you think set collectors will pay more as these cards find permanent homes and dry up?
|
He is a hard one to say. He is with a popular team and could get good playing time. If it was one of the lesser known I would say definately dump it. I got the Long, Connor , and Reggie Smith. Only holding the Chris Long for PC.
|
I would say sell now. The card is averaging right around $50 on ebay. I don't see it getting much higher and will likely go down, just like the rest of the SP's from this set, once newer stuff starts coming out.
|
Only reason to hold on is for PC stuff or if you got a hunch on the next AP or Patrick Willis
|
*cough* Kevin Smith *cough*
|
my list was correct
Beckett released the Short Prints and they're exactly as I predicted. Perhaps my list prompted them releasing it this early, last year they waited almost a month.

Riddle me this? I've got the Xtra points /999 Jordy Nelson (Card #155 Packers). How will this differ pricewise from his base SP RC?

Last years where .2 X short print. |
*cough* Kevin Smith *cough*
So, I should have held the Kevin Smith. Well its on the bay right now. |
they are already dropping in price, so i would throw up whatever sps you have. last week the matt flynn i have was selling mid to upper 20's, now its down to mid to upper teens. not real sure on the others since i had no interest in buying any of them, and obviously didn't pull any of them.

Question about the Short prints:
Why are the short prints with the "extra points" less than the regular short print rookie cards, even though the extra points are numbered? Does anyone understand my question? |
There could have been more produced even though they are numbered, or the fact that they are the SP is the true rc instead of an insert like the Xtra point cards.
Question about the Short prints:

Does anyone understand my question?
the SP's are in shorter supply then the regular rookies( harder to complete a set). all of the Xtra points have the same print run, so nothing special about them. |
