Default Police Looking To Speak With La’el Collins Over Murdered Pregnant Woman

Report: Police Seek To Question NFL Prospect In Pregnant Woman's Murder

Baton Rouge police are looking to speak with former LSU offensive lineman and possible first-round NFL draft pick La’el Collins in relation to a pregnant woman’s death last week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Police say Collins isn’t currently considered a suspect, but believe he had dated 29-year-old Brittney Mills, who was shot to death at her home last week. The Baton Rouge Advocate had previously reported that police believe Mills, who was eight months pregnant, knew her killer and opened her door to the person:

Mills, who lived in an apartment complex in the 200 block of Ship Drive, was found dead when police arrived about 10:38 p.m. Friday but was rushed to a local hospital, where her unborn child was removed in unstable condition. Authorities declined to identify the hospital the woman was taken to but said the infant’s condition had improved to stable and the baby was expected to survive.

According to Schefter, some NFL teams are hoping to learn if police determine that Collins was the father of Mills’s child.

Sorry if already posted. What a crazy thing to have over your head a day before you are due to get drafted.

Pretty sure this means either Cleveland or Oakland will draft him in the first round.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I wonder if they will have the results in time for the draft tomorrow?

I don't want him on the Raiders. I don't know how to pronounce his name.

They've clearly stated he is not a suspect they just want to talk to him. I'm pretty sure if anyone's girlfriend/wife was murdered the police would be talking to them.

AH started out as not a suspect.

Just saying.

And if it's confirmed he is the father (not sure if it is yet) he becomes an automatic suspect.

Not being one "currently" is moot

Who said he was guilty?

In fact you're the only one saying he is innocent. I think the rest of us are curious to see how this plays out.

A lot can change after someone "talks to the police."

And besides, if that's his child, don't you think he would have been to the hospital by now?

Where did someone say that? Rhetorical question.

Doesn't change the fact that before pumping a couple million bucks into a guy you'd like a little more information.

Simply saying "he isn't a suspect right now" is meaningless when you are about to stroke a check.

Another jab at the Browns and Raiders. Gets old and the joke isn't even funny considering teams like the Panthers and Patriots are the one drafting killers.

For what it's worth he's hired a private investigator and is fully cooperating with the Police.

Well, if you have any chance of being investigated for something like this, even if you didn't do it, then you have to have a lawyer. Actually, innocent people need to get lawyers more than the guilty ones.
