Default Body believed to be former player JaJuan Dawson found!!

Praying for his family!!!!

A body believed to be former NFL player JaJuan Dawson was recovered from Lavon Lake in Collin County, Texas on Monday evening.

The body was found at 11:35 p.m. Monday by the Collin County Sheriff's Office Mariner Unit and Texas Parks and Wildlife, Lieutenant Chris Havey of the Collin County Sheriff's Office told NFL Media. The searchers used side-scan radar to locate the body about 300 yards from where Dawson fell in and divers extracted it from the water.

The body has since been transported to the Collin County Medical Examiner for identification, though there is "little doubt" that the body is Dawson, Havey confirmed. The Sheriff's Office is treating this as an accident and their involvement in the matter has since concluded.

Dawson went missing after falling off of a boat on Sunday. He was with his three children and two other family members when he fell into the lake. Dawson was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident. Havey said that alcohol is not a contributing factor to his disappearance.

Dawson was drafted out of Tulane by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played three seasons in the NFL, amassing 52 receptions, 664 yards and two TDs for the Browns and Houston Texans.

The sheriff's office received a 911 call at 6:28 p.m. Sunday from one of Dawson's family members. Rescuers began searching for Dawson at 6:30 p.m. before calling off the search at 11:30 p.m., according to Havey. The search resumed at 7:20 a.m. Monday. Aiding in the search were the Collin County Sheriff's Office, Wylie Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Branch Fire Department.

I hope this does not come off as insensitive as that is not my goal here but....how does this happen?

I mean...if he couldn't swim then what the hell was he doing???

If he could swim then what happened? How does someone drown like this? I guess maybe he hit his head and got knocked out....just seems weird.

Wow, feel terrible for the family. Though, let this be a reminder that if you are on a boat, no matter how "uncool" it seems to be to wear a life jacket, that it's the *smart* thing to do.

Pretty insensitive considering you have no idea what happened.

I don't have percentages, but most times where people fall over into a lake/river they hit their head on the bottom of the boat while trying to resurface. Most time they are overly panicking and rise to the surface way too quickly to see the boat in time...

Ah....this makes sense...it just seems odd...you see a lot of these types of drownings every summer and I am always baffled about why they happen.

I'm sure he wasn't planning on swimming, and didn't think he needed a life jacket.

Smh @ how a common sense question is viewed as "insensitive".

To echo what's already been said, too many times ppl that can't swim go out on boats for fun. And yea, they think life vests look uncool. More than likely the case here.

I don't plan on getting in a car accident when I go out for a ride, but I wear my seat belt anyway.

Just saying.

Not to mention, who goes swimming wearing a life jacket?

Admittedly it may be apples and oranges however if I am unable to swim and I will be on a vehicle that is navigating through water I'm not taking any chances. This guy did- presuming that he actually could not swim.

Let me say this as an AA. Unfortunately many cannot swim. Many do not have access to a swimming pool growing up in the inner city or in poverty. Swimming is just something we do not do as young kids. I learned at an early age because the park I grew up near had a public pool. My wife does not know how to swim, mbut we made sure our children could. They loved the water so we told the. They had to learn to swim if they were ever going to accept a pool party invite. Sad but true

Who is JaJuan Dawson? You realize how many people die every day? Its sad, but its also sad that people who make threads like this and then act like they are the moral police for people who aren't "respectful" feel the need to be that person.

This is a football thread usually when someone passes away it is put on here. Im not acting like a moral police just trying to give respect to a family that may need it. Mr. Panini Rewards man you don't have to know a family to pray for them.

Number of Blowies who will get this reference? Less than 10%...

(otherwise there would most likely have been a moral police attack already...)
