Shoot me a PM if you've still got questions.

But any time you post you will "bump" a thread. It moves that thread up to the top of the forum que - which is where the term "bump" comes from. So if you post at say 5:35 am on April 1st if no one else had posted in that thread you would not be able to post in that thread (keeping in mind consecutive posts) until 5:36 am the following morning (April 2nd) as the rules do state 24 hours must pass.

All posts are time stamped and forum time is displayed at the bottom of the screen so everyone has a double check.

Where is the thread bumping rule posted? Should it not be in your "Forum Rules" link?

General Rules and Guidelines for Buy/Sell/Trade - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING IN B/S/T

Quote:
Bumping - Please do not bump your threads excessively. DO NOT bump your thread to the top unless it has been idle for more than 24 hours. Violations will result in deletion of the offending thread. A Bump is considered to be any post by the thread author for the intention of raising the thread to the top of the list. Recent examples of bumps: "pms replied to", "prices lowered", :"XXX card sold", "pics added". If there is interest, your post will be read...remember to post a subject that is clear and informative and not just "LOOK HERE! WOW!". Want more information on this. Check out the Avoiding Thread Bumping Thread
Violators will be warned the first time or two,
then given a 1 day suspension for the next offense
and it will be stepped above that (3 day, 7 day, 7day plus moderated posts).

Thanks,

I'd make a friendly suggestion to add it to the "Forum Rules" link at the top. I assume bumping applies to more than just B/S/T, so it seems better to be on there. Also, if I can't find it, I don't know how a new member would. If it's in the "Forum Rules" link, I would think you'd also get a lot less argument. Just a though.

-Ken

I believe the intent of the bump rule is for the B/S/T area.

Yup but they need to alter that rule to apply to members who run "Quick Sales Daily" and the cards that don't sell they repost 12 hours later in a new quick sale thread... and that's the same thing as bumping.

can we review or create the "free bump" rules by buddies or by people who PM someone to bump their BST threads right away? I saw one just now "free bumped" less than 40 minutes after the initial posting. No mention of buying the lot, just wanting to keep it to the top. I wanted to post in it, but then that will put it back to the top.

That may be, but if I'm looking to not break rules and I'm new to the site, my natural reaction is to go to the big link that says "Forum Rules" at the top of the page, not to look through a bunch of other sticky threads.

Is there a way to increase the amount of threads on a page.
Less is for dialup
It would probably tame the need for bumping plus keep visitors on a page longer.
Half of us don't bother with page 2

I didn't realize it wasn't a full 24 hrs before my bump. Saw the next day 3 or 4 of my threads were gone.

All about following the rules but where was my warning to notify that I did something wrong?

It takes a long time to type some of these 4 sale threads and now they are gone and will have to be retyped. A message saying you violated the rules and threads will be deleted can give you some time maybe to copy and paste and at least save for future use.

Thank you.
Any reason this isn't the default.
Maybe its just me who likes more
Actually I was looking for number of threads per page not number of posts on a thread page.
Thanks anyway.

I hate the idea of polluting the B/S/T area with a new thread every time a new product comes out, or having to try an manage multiple B/S/T threads for different products in the same section. I like to keep just a single B/S/T thread. I think it would be really helpful if I could change the title when I added new content.

As of right now, we havent allowed this option. We may in the future.

What I suggest as a work around is just reporting the thread and incldue the new thread title as you would like it and we will change it as soon as we can for you.

If I post a sale thread and someone buys a card and writes sold to me on thread ? Am I allowed to reply to his comment on the thread or do I have to wait 24 hours?

Use common sense...

If you intent of the "SOLD" is to bump your thread up then I would say no because you could Edit your Original Post to indicate the card was sold.

That being said it's a gray area in my mind

I think warnings should take into account how often said user has received warnings. If some received a warning 4 years ago and now has another, I don't think they need a 24 hour suspension, it was obiviously a oversight. I think one warning a year without a suspension would be good

actually this is what we do. After a year of active membership (if not on suspension) and no infractions your reset back to zero.
