Thanks for the correction...Card was not pulled out of a pack...

cardsrus1 12-28-2009 12:34 PM

Card was not pulled, seller has dirt on UD so they made him several "custom" cards.

mwheeler27 12-28-2009 12:39 PM

Correct...card was not "pulled", and there is no way he's getting $500K for it. I doubt it tops $50K. I would be willing to bet that more of these cards will be made. Of course they will look different, but their themes will be the same.

How about cards of the other inaugural Hall of Fame classes? Those would be nice hits for a multi sport product huh?

This is a question and answer from that auction:

Q: You ever heard of a fellow who picked up a fantastic card a few years back. It was a quad cut with 4 of the best cut autographs out there. He later found out they were not all real. Sad story really. Nice collection sir. I'm sure you deserve every card and then some. Good timing on that Tiger Woods by the way. Dec-23-09

A: Thank you very much for your interest in my auction. As you know, the stipulations as set forth in the “Card Exchange” agreement between me and Upper Deck do not allow me to divulge the details of this agreement. However I am allowed to state that: “The Upper Deck Company truly stands by their products. We have worked out an agreement, involving an exchange of products, which is mutually beneficial. I believe that Upper Deck creates and produces some of the best products in the industry and that they continue to be pioneers in the field of authenticity. I will continue to collect Upper Deck products without reservation” Thanks again - Kev

Many people questioned the authenticity of the Ruth and Johnson signatures on the quad autograph. If you look closely at pictures of the quad and this card, the Wagner and Cobb signatures that were real were moved to the new card while the other two were changed, and the Mathewson added.

upper decks' CEO doesn't like the Broncos. This guy called up McWilliam and said, "I hate the Broncos! Can you make me a 1/1 Tiger Woods card?". ;)
