Nice looking card. Only problem is there is a chance that it is sheet cut rather than pack pulled. I wouldn't be confident enough to lay down a premium on any card pre-foil that Beckett graded (reference to OPC Hockey sheet-cuts Beckett graded).

Why should sheet cut matter though? They all started in a sheet. When they were cut seems irrelevant to me. A PSA 10 cut from a sheet is still a PSA 10 etc.

If that was true then grades for vintage would be completely irrelevant. Rarity is a major factor that gives vintage cards any value. I also don't think PSA has an open policy of grading sheet-cuts without proper distinctions. The particular example I would point to is the 79 OPC Gretzky RC: This card is known for the rough edge that all issues should have given the type of blade they used and with a laser sheet cut they could carve out 10's all day if the sheets are available(and apparently some are). My thing is if it wasn't cut from the factory then it is worthless because the grade won't reflect the product as it was released and you are basically creating a new line of product that didn't exist as intended. Just my opinion of course and a strong reason I would not touch anything "vintage" from beckett.

I see your point, I just figure that if its from the original stock and its being laser cut at a later point, you are still getting an original card. It wouldn't bother me, but I can see why it would bother others.

I figure my OPC Gretzky might be a PSA 4 if graded, which is why its still in a screwdown holder and not a PSA holder. Those jagged edges were rough.
