Default Anyone interested in a UD CUP Group Break? Read

Have we done any Hockey group breaks? I've broken 3 cases of 06/07 The Cup and I think it's a great break ... with potential for huge hits, minimal risk of losing your shirt, etc.
There is no rhyme or reason as to how many cards are in a 'box'. Some have as few as 4, some as many as 6. Typically a case produces 33-35 cards total, with 9-10 being base cards. I've gotten at least 1 'case hit' and at least 1 '1/1' in every case ... and beautiful patches as you've seen in some of the breaks on the board. Examples of my case hits are: Lemieux quad patch/auto (sold for 1200), Howe 1/1 auto/patch (sold for 800 ish), Gretzky auto/quad gu (on ebay now).

Here's how I would propose doing a group break for this product based on my experience:

35 slots @$80 per slot. A slot is a card. Purchasers will be given a number 1-35. Cards will be pulled from boxes top to bottom ... first card pulled is #1 and so on. If you get a base card #/249, #/25 or rookie #/25 that is not an auto, gu, 1/1, or plate ... you get $70 refunded. If you pull a Gretzky, Crosby, etc. base you just made out pretty good. This minimizes the issues with paying $80 for a base card (although as I mentioned some sell very well). If the case produces less than 35 cards those slots are refunded in full. Unfortunately it will be luck of the draw (random number generator) if you get slots #34,35 ... the riskier ones, but you wont be out any $$.

Based on my math and probable refunds due to base cards and 'extra' slots, I believe that this will just about break even after fees and shipping.

This break should go quick ... the case is live, there are only 32-35 cards ... reminds me of the Triple Threads break that I did previously.

CASE ORDERED 10/31 .. breaks on TUESDAY 11/6 ... slot assignments will come when all slots are paid

Live break on this board with video to follow.

I would do 1-2 slots.

However, I think that The Cup may be a better candidate for the "profit sharing break" idea. Thoughts?

25 shares x $300/share should be able to get us 4 x 6 box cases.

I would be interested in 1 slot maybe more but I'll give the rest a chance first.

I agree .. profit sharing break is workable with this product ... just thought I'd start a little smaller (less $$ and faster turnaround) and see how it goes. If we do a profit sharing break later, I would think we're talking 2-3 cases and $250-$300 buy-ins.

I would participate in this too, but would like to take a break from the case breaking this time. Would you do the break Tony?

Matt, I could do it, but don't want to take away from Tim's idea here. Let's see what everyone thinks about the two options and go from there?
