And I don't mean in a good way.__________________ JACOB BIGSHOW'S NEW BFF Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. -- Warren Buffet aka The Oracle of Omaha checkoutmycards.com/users/nd3 |

Besides being new and participating in your own break, I think there's another potential problem with this set up: you shouldn't be able to pick teams, otherwise all of the good ones will be gone early and you'll have trouble filling the other slots. Randomize the teams, then allow trades, but I don't know if it'll even get that far. We'll see though.

So, maybe this isn't a very good idea? Maybe I will just have to write this all off. I thought it would be better if people got to pick their teams because then they could get their favorite team rather than a team they didn't want. I see I could allow trades and such but as stated it probably wouldn't take off no matter how I set it up. I figured with me being really new to this board that it could be a big issue but I thought I would just make an attempt. Oh well I'll just take it down.
Thanks for the heads up guys! |

Good lookin' out DHINAZ. Your heart's in the right place... I know I'd want my favorite teams in a break, too. No harm in that. Only real problem is if the good hits are allocated to one team... take the NFL for example. One guy recently tried to host a break after giving the Vikings slot to his cousin before even handing out other spots (Vikings hold the best rookie obviously). Needless to say, that didn't go over too well...
Maybe you should suggest someone else run an UD Baseball case break. It's nothing personal... you could watch how it's done and gain a little experience. I'm sure you'll host one of these sometime. Good luck! |

Its a great idea. Don't get me wrong. I personally prefer the team breaks, for the same reason you picked your team. But I doubt it will fly over here. Everyone likes a fair playing field. Once teams are picked (generally random.org, or some other non partial way of teams being picked, then let the trading begin. Some guys will gladly trade off a team or two for their favorite team, or a team they feel has the most potential to profit in the break.
No offense to you, but lots of new comers wanting to host their own break. Everyone over here likes their money. They want the guarentee that their money will go for their slot, and they'll get their cards. A group break host needs to be well established, creditable, and honest, before they'll stand a shot at getting enough to pony up the funds to cover a group break. And then even thats not enough most times. You need a good product to boot. I'm more than well established here (FYI for those just joining..I think this is the 4th or 5th version of blowout's forums), but still having limited sucesses on getting my group break filled (07 LCM FB). There's so many going on right now (2 Premiers, maybe an SPX, and most likley one I don't even know about Think its a good thing the board is expanding so quickly, but its going to take time for everyone to become established. |

iluvfish2 & derek55, I understand 100%. I wasn't sure how well it would go over and I just thought I would try and hope for the best. I guess I'll just look for case breaks to join and someday maybe host my own.
So is the general rule on here that hosts don't participate in the break? All other case breaks I have been apart of the hosts have always participated in. So I thought that was ok and also is there ever breaks where you pick your teams? I have been apart of random team breaks and ones where you can pick your so again I wasn't sure. |

There have been a few breaks where you actually BID on the teams you wanted auction style. Baseball for example, the Yankees and Red Sox usually went for more $$$ than say the Nationals or the Blue Jays. Same can be done for Football or whatever, but you have to organize it that way and come up w/ a way to auction teams off fairly. Lately it seems like everyone participates in the "random slot" way and if it's random teams, then people just trade after everyone finds out who got what teams.
