The one I have near me sucks, and his prices are ridiculous. It's a little over an hours drive, but I want to try a different place.

Im from Pa also and had the same thing going down. I only deal with two shops, and you mentioned one of them. SportsCardPlayground is a nice place, a bit pricey on some boxes. Their really friendly and have all sorts of deals and contests for their customers. I have hit some decent stuff there too, check out there website sportscardplayground.com they have a nice bighit wall. The other shop I go too is in Allentown at the Merchantsquare mall and its a guy name Chris and think its LS sports cards. He does take his stuff and tour around from mall to mall during the summer and winter months to promote better business. He has very good prices, most of the time and is great to sell Jersey cards and autos too that you dont want. I can give you directions if you need them at anytime. We should meet up and catch a show, im looking to find some card friends in the area, wish someone wanted to tag along to the National in Baltimore in August. Sucks I dont wanna go bye myself, but dont know many collectors, well that Im close to and would have money to go.

Wink central pa

i live in Elysburg, Pa and have to drive 30 min to Shaffers card shop in Lewisburg (Bucknell). He has a big selection of cards and wax but it is a RETAIL shop so the deals are not there on singles, but the wax prices are ok.

Thanks for the advice. I'm only going down to the national probably for a day, but would love to meet up with someone as well! Also, does Sportscard playground well a good amount of singles too, if I don't want to bust wax?

I goto sportscard playgorund on a regular basis. Not much in singles unless you want philly teams. Box prices are average to above average. Not as cheap as on line but they have to make a profit.

I'm in Pittsburgh and we don't have many shops left here either, the few we have are a bit high on boxes, but its a shop I realize they need to make a profit, I miss the days of the early 90's when you could go to ANY mall or shopping center and there were card shops at all of them

I'm for South Eastern PA... Not too many around my area... Closest is King of Prussia Mall, place is called Sports Vault. They beat on some box prices but are mostly a little high... It's either that or a place outside Reading, PA at the Berkshire Mall called S&B Sports Collectibles

Carl's cards just south on 476 I think maybe 15 mins from the mall is a great little shop, and another one in media another 15 or so minutes south on 476 is also a great place, I've frequented both, but more so media as I'm in jersey and it's a bit closer but prices are comparable.

I live in Erie theres a great LCS here.

The wax is pretty reasonable $10-15 more a box than the internet and the owner is a great guy so I love buying my stuff there.

I talked to Ken last week. They are going to start running some promos after the new year. They may also start a group break night, that if it takes off they will offer spots through their website and also in store where you can be for the live break.

Besides the S&B store there is also Golden Eagle comics Fairground Square Mall that deals with some sports, & also Mt. Penn Sports Cards here in the Reading area.
