even then there is a transaction record you can go by and see if the person is in good standing. You realize you go back on everything you said in your original post and then changed it when you were getting called out on it. Sort of Wishy-Washy if you ask me. Is your name Charlie btw?

To the OP. You do not need to explain yourself or defend yourself. Honestly, you are wasting your time. There are some really cool people on these forums, but then you will always run into some pretty narrow minded and mean people on ANY forum.

I was in a similar position as you were when I started collecting/breaking. I didn't know what I was doing. I'd go to Walmart and try and feel out a pack. Not knowing it was frowned upon in the card community. When I found out how serious people take it, I stopped. Not that I care what people think, but I understood how it makes people feel and how it would make me feel. It wasn't until I saw a real "pack searcher" that I realize how bad it was to do that. My intentions were pretty innocent at first, but I've seen some shady folks at my local target and walmarts that really pissed me off. So I quickly stopped.

I've also been in a position where I wanted an advantage. Anyone on this forum that says they don't want some advantage is lying. Just like anything in life, you don't want to be at the bottom of the barrel, you want to be at the top. Whether that means being a Top seller on ebay or having all the greatest feedback on iTrader. Who wants to only pull $1 cards out of a $70 box. It's just not realistic.

If you are not resealing boxes or feeling up packs, I think you are alright. Even if you had 2 boxes in your hand, and you took the one you percieved to weigh more, I think that's pretty normal as well.

And regarding your card sale, I've had the same thing happen to me. I ended up selling the card, but now I know better. You live and learn. If I were you in that situation, I would have parted with the card and just chalked that one up as a lesson learned. Even after pulling out of the deal, I still don't think you broke some unspoken rules. If the money is not in hand, the deal has not been closed. You have every right to change your mind and pull out. And even if the person had paid you, I'd still understand if you changed your mind. If that were me, there would be no hard feelings. Not to mention, the people who lowball you know they are getting a deal. In many ways, they are scum themselves. The card I sold, I sold for $150. Turns out that it was a $250 card. I thought the guy was buying it for his PC. He flipped it as soon as it was delivered. I left $100 on the table. He obviously knew something I didn't about that card. Most people on this forum would say it was wrong if I pulled out. That's just how this card industry works.

Anway, I haven't read all of the post here, but I know what you are saying and I know how you feel like you are being singled out. My advice to you is to ignore the people trying to throw stones at you and just move on. Live and learn. The more involved you get in collecting, you'll start to pick up on the nuances of other collectors and you'll start gaining people's trust.

That was the single best post I have read in a very long time on any forum.

I appreciate what you are saying and the information you have given me. I just wish others seen it that way as I am the type of person who tries to help people, not screw them and to see people call ME Shady is very hurtful. I WORK with shady people, I am not one of them.

Now seeing as what I was asking to learn was deemed shady, I immediately wrote an appology. Did it take 2 pages of question/answers to make me see it that way? Yes. But did I see it their way? Yes. I even went so far to make an appology thread to just say "sorry, lets shake hands. My name is Steve. Hope to see you out and about". Yet THAT causes a problem too?

I guess you just cant make everyone happy and for the people who said I was shady in this thread, I tried to explain. If you still dont agree with me, or still think i am shady, I appologize again and all i can say is just dont buy from me or sell to me I guess. Hurts to say that, but I am not going to spend the rest of my days appologizing to you for something I didnt do to you. I extended my hand in good faith. You dont want to except that but call me the drama queen? Pot meet Kettle

You'll learn quickly who the negative people are. I don't even bother replying to them anymore. I've gotten into arguments with a few people on this forum. I did the same thing...tried to explain myself...apologize...etc. Then I realized these people are just mean people. They are probably unfriendly people in person. They hide behind their post, act like they know it all, puff themselves up. I don't even waste my time trying to argue with those people. Why bother? You will never change how they think or feel about things. So I just speak my mind, as I did in your thread, and move along...I don't know these people and they don't know me. And I'm happy keeping it that way.

Welcome to the forum Steve. Steer clear of the a-holes.

Thank you. I will certainly try! I am looking forward into learning more sports (just a Hockey guy for now) and I know the people on this board are some of the most knowledgable people I have come across. So I really look forward to learning from them. Hopefully I can provide some guidance and information on the Hockey end of things and make this board flow smoothly.

Thanks for the welcome arms. Happy Holidays from My family, to Your's!

Holy! you totally are a drama queen, the mods pm'd us and asked us to drop this. Now you post that you backed out of this deal cause I don't live in the US? I never once told you I didn't I absolutely do not live in the USA but I do have a USA address I get my stuff sent too. You backed out and renegged because you seen it sold a bit hirer, plain and simple and like the mods say drop it. You totally are a drama queen.

Here is what I wrote:

Hi guys. I wanted to come onto Blowoutcards.com/forums and give a sincere appology to the rest of you guys. Let me explain..

I am new the card and memorabilia collecting. I started collecting around april of last year. Through this time I have spent so much money I dont even know which way to turn (who hasnt really?!). I recently became a board member and I think I brushed some people wrongly. Thats not my nature at all.

I am a sincere person. I try my best to help everyone out no matter if you bit my hand previously. I recently made a thread asking if there was a certain spot a company would put the "good" box in a case. I explained the reason I was asking was because a local shop near my house always opens cases and tells me to take whichever box I wanted (I am paying for the box of course) and I just wanted to better my chances at picking the better of the lot. I did not realize this would be "cheating" and looked down upon. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the concept that people thought I was trying to defraud someone. I am the furthest thing from that. So I spiritedly tried to defend myself but as the night went on and I slept on it some more, I came to the realization what others were trying to explain to me. It IS cheating even if i am not reselling the box or a case. I dont sell boxes or cases and never will but thats not the point. It would be taking away from the next guy and THATS what I wasnt realizing. I do now though. I appologize for anyone I argued with. Sincerely.

I would also like to bring up another issue I came across and want to appologize about. I had a PM conversation with someone about a card I was selling. I am new to this so I really dont know what things are worth or whatnot. Anyways, the person offers me a price on a card I was considering selling. At first it seemed like a decent price. I PM'ed him/her and said depending on your location for shipping purposes I would except that deal. Within an hour or less I had not received a message back and I went on to ebay to find out the card sold for much more than the person had offered me. Since they did not respond to me yet and TECHNICALLY I didnt agree cause I wasnt sure about the shipping issue, I immediately sent a message to the person and said I was going to put the card on ebay and if they wanted to, they were more than able to bid on the item. A little while past and they responded to me quite bluntly and upset. They said I was reneg'ing on the deal. I tried to explain to them that technically I did not except the deal cause I wasnt sure if i was shipping the card to United States or it could have been to Australia for all I knew. I also tried to point out that they did not respond and I went another direction. Well, needless to say the person was not happy with me at all. I felt that I was within my right to go the opposite direction because I said I would except the deal depending on the shipping location. An hour passed and no answer and I immediately PM'ed back and told them I was going another direction.
Well, I would like to appologize to THAT individual as well. They seemed very upset and I didnt come on this site to anger anyone. Thats not my intention and it will never BE my attention. So as a olive branch to the Blowoutcards.com/forums crew, from my family to yours, I appologize for the recent actions and I look forward to learning from you and your staff about this great hobby and I cant wait to share my cards with you and see your cards as well.

I am sincere in my appologies and will prove it to you in my posts from here on out.

Sincerely,

Steve

Bro for real Ta hell with all that non sense. ill ninja pick a box all day just like i feel the blow out employers are doing to me. I swear they give me the last box in a case every time. every box i have ever bought from this site has giving me like 17% of the value back. Pathetic. And only two times in my life was i aloud to pick my own packs and knew for a fact i was ripping something. 1 Was absolute football i believe where the ticket jersey cards were an inch shorter in the middle of the pack so you could squeeze the top . And a Ron dayne piece of turf card back in the day from vet stadium felt like there was a rock between the cards
