Gretz auto in a vintage Oilers sweater (one of the nicest sweaters ever made IMO) VERY NICE Capt ! If you were ever gonna keep anything thats one to think long and hard about.

Bam - one of the reasons why i want to keep this one is because this is my first auto pull of a major sports icon (bball = jordan, football = payton/sanders/etc, baseball = ruth golf = tiger, you get the idea)..

and it helped to get a really nice patch card that could make up most of the cost of the box anyways.

would it be worth it to get this one graded? looks pretty nice..

I think it's always tough when you pull something nice that also might mean something to you ...
All I can say is this is how I'd approach it ...

For me if I pulled this particular card (and I put a premium on a Gretzky Oiler auto) and knew I should at least get something back on the remaining cards I'd keep it ...
Just think -- can you buy this card for the price you paid for the box ??

I highly doubt it ...
Would be a nice card for the PC ..... as far as grading goes I don't own a graded card and have no desire to have a graded card so I guess you know my opinion there

oh i forgot. if anyone is doing the base sets... for 2.50 (cost of shipping - pp fees), all the base cards from the box are yours.

First response in the thread gets them.

the stastny/100 will be in there too (unfortuantely there is a slight bend in the corner - thank UD for that one)

I'm not a big fan of sending things in for grading Capt. especially if its not numbered. Only graded cards I have are from buying them that way off fleabay or collections.

That is not necessarily true. If you grade the Gretzky and it gets a grade of 9 or better it will increase its value. Now if it scores under a 9 then all you have to do is pull the card out of the graded case!!! lol

I know that it comes as a shock but according to the checklist on UD.com the Gretz is an SP auto outa that set.....
