2009-10 UD Black

Thank you once again Upper Deck for defrauding me as a customer. I buy a box of cards that contains only four cards and get three cards and an expired redemption. I know the hobby curmudgeons will flame me for complaining. However, I think I have a right to be pissed off that the 09/10 UD Black redemptions expired before the 08/09 UD Black redemptions! Anyway, I digress.

Here were the contents. I paid $80 for the box, as I used some credit card points to offset the price:

Evgeni Malkin Jersey / Auto 17/25
Tony Esposito base four jersey 91/99
John Negrin Letterman RC 208/499
Matt Gilroy Letterman Redemption (expired) X/99

Malkin's pretty cool. I hear ya though, that stinks with the redemption...If you kick up enough dirt I'm sure they will send you something.

Dont complain, i hear that UD honors redemption even if it says expired, did u try enter the code and see what happens?

I know that because I post in a public forum that I open myself up to being flamed for complaining about expired redemption cards. Please don't respond to my post if you are going to be condescending. I am not an idiot. I tried the redemption code and have e-mailed back and forth with the con artists at Upper Deck. They have said absolutely no can do. Bottom line Upper Deck is a company that does not care about consumers and you Mr. Mortuus are the sourge of the hobby!

Also, to everyone who says collectors should not complain about expired redemption, I hope that you are soon given your pay in expired checks. Then maybe you will see it the way of people who pay their money for product and pull these expired redemption cards. Any reasonable human being should be able to see that Upper Deck should send at least something even if it is complete garbage because they have failed to honor their obligation of providing the specified number of cards in a given box.

When buying the box, you knew that there was a possibility of expired redemptions. You could have went with a newer box that has zero chance of having expired redemptions. In other words nobody forced you to buy that box so it is partly your own fault.

i feel your pain. last weekend i was at a local show and along with some new stuff grabbed 2 boxes of 2011 Press Pass Legends Football. they were relatively cheap, i hadn't tried them before and i knew they had a few hits per box (5 autos & 1 relic) so thought it was worth a shot.

the first box was short 1 auto card. the best hit in the box was redemption for a Marino/Mallet dual auto. but it expired back in May.

the best hit in the second box? a redemption for a Dick LeBeau auto... also expired.

now if i buy something old enough i realize the risk. but the 2011 football redemptions are already expired? really? i guess i should have done more homework, but how about a little fair warning? the packaging say "five autographs & 1 game used jersey card in every box." not one word about redemptions, expirations, etc.

their site says they'll do their best to honor expired redemptions... so we'll see what happens.
