Default my first hockey break in YEARS - 2012/13 Retro

Stopped by the LCS for some supplies and some Prince Fielder cards for my daughter (her favorite player).

No new Prince cards, so I had her grab 2 packs of Topps Series one (he's on the wrapper). She pulled a silk /50, but thats for a different post

So I'm staring at the wax, needing to scratch the itch. I said "what the hell", and had my daughter pick 2 packs of Retro. At $8/pack and very good auto odds, cant really go too wrong.

Well, the first pack had an auto of some dude I've never heard of. Not a great start. Pack 2 yielded a Mats Sundin Jambalaya, which the guy at the store went nuts over.

So as we're wrapping up, I decided against better judgement and took a box of the Retro home.

As far as I'm concerned, I think I did pretty well.

First off, the base cards are UGLY!

Only auto where I had actually heard of the guy was Wendell Clark. But then again, I wasnt expecting a whole lot. (plus, I just dont do much hockey. I may have a gem in here for all I know).

Beat the odds a little on the Ultra inserts. Nothing great besides a Crosby 92-93.

No major Metal Universe except Patrick Roy.

Showcase was OK, with a Crosby and a Lidstrom Legacy /150.

1 EX 2001 - Crosby

Where I think I did pretty well was the rarer inserts.

Now, I dont know how common these things ACTUALLY are, but according to the pack odds I killed it:

Diamond Tribute (1:40) - Eric Lindros

Ultra Stars Gold (1:96) - Chris Kreider

Golden Touch (1:108) - Pavel Bure

and the previously mentioned Jambalaya (1:360) - Mats Sundin

All In all, I feel like it was a relatively solid break. Once I have a minute to look up the autos, I might be even happier.

Great break! The thing that sucks is that even if the card is a tough pull on ebay they don't get as much love as they should unless its a big name player which stinks. But that Sundim is an awesome pull.

Thanks. There's not exactly a lot of sales info to be found about the Jambalayas. Any idea what it could go for? $50? I have no clue...

cool, thanks for the good news.

I'm at work, ebay is a "restricted" site, and the eBay app for my iPhone is borderline useless most of the time for looking up stuff.

nice pulls!

do you have a price on the crosbys and kunitz? (I think I only need the EX and ultra crosbys - i'd have to check to see if I have that base)

Not a bad looking box! That Landeskog auto should sell for a decent price as far as retro stuff goes. He is the youngest captain in the league and has a pretty big following.

From what I can tell, they go for about $15 + shipping.

Could've done a lot worse...
