Default 96-97 Black Diamond Question?

Hey Guys, I just picked up a collection and in there was a few 96-97 Black Diamond. I don't know much about Hockey. There is a Joe Thornton RC Books $400 and wondering why so high? SP? I also got all the other sp's in that set the stars book $60-$80. I also got a insert of Lemiuex and it books $250.00 serial number 3/100. I did not think this stuff was this high and would like to know a little history on this. Thanks Guys!

The 96-97 Black Diamond brand was UD newest and one of its highest demand products for end of the 1996-1997. It was also limited and featured new technology. The catch was the short printed base set including rookies and the extremely low print runs for the inserts and triple diamond parallels. The cards are extemely condition sensitive while the rookie cards were of highly touted prospects for 1997 draft (short printed Marleau, super short printed Thornton) and the Patrick Lalime's best rookie card (Set rookie record for consecutive wins as Penguins goalie). There are other notable prospects with first year and second year cards. Odds of a triple diamond were 1:30 and for a double diamond 1:7 or 1:9. Odds were very long to receive an actual numbered insert. It was a super premium product and better than Upper Deck Ice since there was more chase. The product also produced ultra scarce inserts, which were in high demand in the mid 90s.

Watch the corners for chipping, that will kill the grade. Did you get any other Run For the Cup inserts?

I did check the corners they are awesome! The only insert I got was Lenieux. Here is the list of others I got. I will be selling these when we get closer to Hockey.
Thornton #160, Lemieux #166, Roy #174, Gretzky #190, 2 Lindros #157, Kariya #175, And a Gold Theodore #116. Not a bad lot.

Just click on the person's name you want to send a PM to and a menu appears that says Send a PM to XXX.

Easiest way to to either click on the persons screen name (if your like me, right click on it and open it in a new window), then you'll see a link that sends send "xxx" a private message. Click on that link and start typing away.

You can post email addresses, Blowout just doesnt want them put in your signature.
