Default Redemption?

I know what a redemtion is...but what is the point of it? why dont they just put the card in the case???
I received a J.Bernier Redemption in my 07/08 artifacts box and i just cant seem to understand why they just dont put the actual card in the pack?

Almost all redemptions are autographed cards and they are not put in the product because the manufacturer does not have the autographs from the individual in time to get them in the product.

I doubt its an auto. Artifacts has the Rookie Redemptions cards. Its just the True rookie card of the base set.

I stand corrected. I guess this is something else than your standard "no sign" redemption card. I apologize for my earlier blunder.

In your case...was Bernier even drafted yet? Some of the hockey products are great examples...they'll print the redemption card then decide once the season starts who it will be (given NHL rules don't they have to play in a game first to get a card)?...easy way to add some excitment to a product and still allow the manufacture a chance to get the players first card produced.

I thought that was baseball? Thats why so many 1st year cards aren't considered "RC's"

You will have a nice card when it gets to you, stop whining about it.

Bernier had a great camp last fall and started the 07/08 season with the Kings- he played in several early season games and hence by whatever lame ass standards UD and their paid off buddies at the NHLPA have for inclusion as NHL RCs he is in most (if not all) of the 7/8 sets. I suppose the Kings just wanted to get him a feel for the speed of the National league and he was sent back down to play because of options/terms of service etc and he played well at the WJC in Dec. Redeem the card as KMD says and be happy.... it is a nice pull from a decent product with RCs s/ned to 599.....

Hang onto it, he'll eventually be the starter, but I wouldn't be shocked if Erik Ersberg pulls a Miikka Kiprusoff next season and comes out of nowhere to post 35 wins and a sub 2.00 GAA.

Not a prediction mind you, but not something that would surprise me either.
