Is hockey like football, what I mean by that is will that guy see any fines cause the way it looked to me is he went straight for the head with that shot?

I really like watching hockey but I definitely got to learn the rules of the game.

That actually is not considered a definite head shot, since Lucic was skating at him and his head down a bit. I did not really see, but unless he threw up his elbow , it looked pretty clean. The NHL is harder on the blind-side hits to the head and being hit head first into the boards. Either way there is no set *rule* as to what or I should say who gets fined what or how long a suspension is. They really need to set a rule and make it for the stars of the game too.

In Hockey a "Hit" like the one on Lucic is considered 'Attempt to Injure' and is a suspension depending on what the League rules the severity of the action. If indeed the NHL were to standerize the suspension some of these 'Butchers' would think twice prior to their actions. What should also be taken into account is the status of the game i.e. Blowout (no pun intended), or under 2 min. to play etc. when this S$%# usually happens. What the NHL does do right is not penalize a player for a Quality shoulder or open ice hit which is what the game is all about! Lucic unfortunatly will serve a suspension for the sucker shot, which is not his character, but he let the moment take over.

I disagree with the claim that the hit on Lucic was an "intent to injure"; maybe slightly high, but it was head-on.

If he led with his shoulder and his stick//arms/elbow were at the chest or lower I would agree but this guy had all of the above involved with the hit, nothing good is going to come out of that. Love the Shot form Lucic when they were jawing at each other!

i think the bruins responded the right way . he is a big part of the team this season and is having his best year. im sure if that happened to sid , crosby , the same thing would happen
